as crazy as this sounds, I'm with Flanders on this one. I wish I could get my taxes done in January. Not January 1st, but at least in January. sometimes I have to wait until February just to get the W-2 forms.

I watch this every year in mid January. Gets me motivated to finish my taxes by the first week of February. Flanders would not be proud, but it'll do.

The simpsons writers were so genius for the character of ned flanders. A legitimately good christian man who actually loved his neighbor and tried to be pious and christlike in all of his actions. They love to bash christians who abuse their positions in the church and christians whose actions are completely hypocritical and contradictory. Some might see this as an unfair portrayal, but in the end, their satire is balanced out by the fact that Ned Flanders is usually divinely rewarded for his benevolence and Christlike actions. Truly the best way to stick it to the fraudulent christians who do not practice what they preach.

3:33 1. Ned literally starts his taxes minutes into the New Year. 2. Declining a legitimate business expense because it could be abstractly construed as personal benefit because he enjoys the smell. 3. An exaggerated listing of what taxes pay for including sunshine AND the people who just don't feel like working (with no further comment rendered). 4. Wiggum's advice. 5. Queue jumper mentality by Seymour 6. Captain McAllister's commentary on the nature of tax. 7. Frink inferring Lenny's mistake in filing his taxes. 8. Otto mistaking the queue for the line to a Metallica concert. 9. Krusty being blunt about those who make the mistake of forgetting their taxes. 10. This setting up Kent Brockman's smugness at hiring an accountant to do his taxes, only to reveal his accountant hasn't... 10. All of this to set-up: "I paid my taxes over a year ago" And this isn't even all of the quips and clever set pieces. Peak Golden Age Simpsons

A life lesson to be learned from this episode- as soon as you get all the documents you need for your taxes, take care of it as soon as possible. Don’t wait.
