I wasn’t much of a Winger fan, but that’s a hell of a song and a beautiful guitar piece. Good on him. I’ll check it out.

I was never the biggest fan of Winger's output, but as players? Holy shit! I still find it laughable watching Lars Ulrich throwing darts at that pic, cause Lars isn't fit to fetch Rod's drumsticks. Kirk on his best day couldn't play a fraction of what Reb Beach could.

My old Band ( a hair band ) opened for Winger many many moons ago. Any band that has Rod Morgenstein in it is worth a long look . Glad to see Kips in it for the Art . Y'know at least you had to have chops in the hair bands ....now the ballet makes sense.... I had never seen anyone move like that and cut those vocal parts plus play with Rod Mortgenstein. Go man Go!!!

I grew up with Santana, Queen, pointer sisters, Golden earring as my first musical interests and purchases at the age of 8 or 9. My first real album bought was Thriller, I liked Kim Wilde, Nena and other top40 stuff. Very quickly I got into rap/hiphop/electro/funk and the 80's dance so to speak, Prince was and is my musical hero since Purple rain. And with rock I liked the ballads and some Bon Jovi, Europe. End 1988 I moved out of the house, bought my first cd player and Guns 'n roses Appetite for destruction was my first cd. Got new friends and more into hardrock/metal as the gangstarap was something I didn't like, that stuff was over. My next 2 cd's were Skid row's first album and the first Winger album....Headed for a heartbreak is one of the greatest ballads ever and it has beautiful guitar work! Been into hardrock/metal and TONS of other stuff too ever since.

We hired HPW (Ed Hukoveh, Tom Pissano, Bud Wyatt) who had recently converted Producer's Workshop. Amongst other wizardry, these true genius's figured out how to remove the mushy sounding electronics into a punchy, rock-hard sound that drove listeners, musicians and producers wild. Few listeners even know about this and, in the ensuing rush to get this sound. HPW changed the sound of music. This sound is the one that we all now call "disco", with its heavy 4/4 bass drum, super crisp high-hat and monster tracks/vocals. In large part, disco should be thought of as a technical revolution in sound recording.

I don’t know what it is but I can only listen to a little bit of Winger at a time before I get bored and agitated. I loved their 1st album back in the day. Must be the intervals, patterns, or harmonies. Keep rocking though guys! I’ll always remember and appreciate your OG songs.

I appreciate Kip talking about making music for art and not money.... but let's be honest, that is an easy take for somebody that already made the money. Not so easy for a musician that is not established. Everybody's got bills to pay...

Awesome interview Rick. Winger did get shit on a bit back in the day despite the talent of Reb, Kip and the rest. I was aware of Kip’s involvement in ballet, classical music and other things outside the rock world. I was never a huge Winger fan but caught them live a few years ago and they put on a great show and Kip still has a great voice. An all around fantastic musician. I’m really digging the content this year Rick…keep it up. The Grohl interview has to be coming…hopefully. 🤘🏼

Man, seeing the people that you rocked out to when you were in high school age, damn it hurts. You still look good Ed, just saying it goes WAY too fast. Miss those days. And also, his speaking voice just doesn't match his singing voice, amazing.

Could have worn a Beavis & Butthead T-Shirt. After watching the video I'm kinda glad he didn't. Kip's an artist and was never looking for a cynical (and hilarious) cartoons' approval. Still, a shame Rick didn't wear the T-shirt in jest, lol.
