4:17 yes this is the exact kind of Maple Leaf I've been researching for.. thank you for interviewing a Video about types of Maple Leaves.. my question is does the Green side turn to Red in Fall Time and the other side still stay's White in Theory is how Canada Flag was made. Interesting Fact my Surname Currie does mean River and Wet Marsh like how Silver Maples are found on Wet lands aside River Shores..

The antenna, males usually have larger and wider antennae to catch the scent of females. True across most species of moths.

My persimmon tree i planted at the other house has a few flowers in clusters and the tree isn't loaded with flowers like the ones are in the fields edge of the woods but i think mine are but I'll know when i start seeing a green ball

I found a ton of the trees and gonna check them out tomorrow one tree's loaded with tons of flowers and a ton of persimmon tree's under the big one so I'll see then. One person said before if the leafs stim is green its male and if it has red in the leaf stim then its female i don't know how true that is but I'll see tomorrow

So I rushed out to check my persimmon trees (I have 8 but no fruit yet after only 3 years). Turns out on every tree that some branches have single flowers along the branch and other branches have groups of 2 or 3 flowers along some of them. So are these male, female or hermaphroditic?
@Biophile232 ай бұрын
I would look more closely as they start to open the flowers. You should be able to see an ovary inside if it is female. Did you grow them from seedlings? I think hermaphrodites are possible though somewhat unlikely.

Never tasted an American Persimmon. In Quebec where I used to live they sold Vanilla (vaniglia) kaki/Persimmon, they are from Spain/Italy and France I think . They could be eaten crunchy or very ripe both way they were my favorite fruit in the whole world. I've never seen them in USA and I looked and looked to have a tree of it, but never found it either, Probably couldn't grow where I live anyway, as all my Asian persimmons got killed in Zone 6B last year but hey I think they are regrowing from the root-stock and now they will be American persimmon from what My APP is telling me so in many many years if I still live at this house I can maybe taste one😂
@Biophile233 ай бұрын
You could possibly grow american persimmon depending on what part of Quebec you are in. American persimmon can definitely handle zone 5 maybe 4. I am in 6B and they do great. Your issue may be that you normally need a male and female to get fruit. There are supposedly parthenocarpic varieties that can fruit alone but I have seen conflicting information on them.

Thanks for making this video. Do you know if spinach and silverbeet can cross-pollinate?
@Biophile235 ай бұрын
Silverbeet is also known as chard which is Beta vulgaris. That's in a different genus than Spinacia so I would think it unlikely they could cross pollinate.

Thank you for showing us this video! We are in our 70's. We want a Hana Fuyu tree. Economically, to get fruit in 1-2 years, what size should we buy? Will one tree be fruitful? Thanks again!
@Biophile237 ай бұрын
In the case of Fuyu persimmons they are Asian persimmons and parthenocarpic meaning they don't need a pollinator at all. I don't have a lot of experience with Asian persimmons as I cannot grow them in my area I can only grow American Persimmons and some hybrids. I believe both species can start fruiting pretty young. If you could get one an inch to a half inch in caliper they would probably fruit pretty quickly but I would not go larget than that as they may not establish as well.
