Thanks for watching everyone, it was super cool making a video on something non Nintendo related and would really enjoy doing it again some more in the future. Also, I want to try get one more smaller video out before July hits and then get to work on a video themed around BOTW.

Splatoon 3 was a necessary sequel for the future of the series, splat 2 had so many fundamental flaws that could not be fixed through dlc, in top of that, Nintendo needed to keep the fanbase alive m, if there was no splat 3, it would be 5 years without any new content for the series which is terrible for a primarily multiplayer game

Yes. As we near the end of updates for this multiplayer, they may be in a situation to keep such a high active player base. I actually think we could get Splatoon 4 in 2.5 years. I actually think they can develop it easier than Zelda.

I can also relate to sequels brining in new fans. I was considering getting Splatoon 2 for a while. Sadly I never took the plunge. But when S3 came out, I saw it as a chance for me to dive in head first. And now it’s one of my most played Switch games lol

Tears would have been amazing if it came first and BOTW didn’t exist, but since BOTW did, and tears came 6 years later, what it ended up doing felt so incremental in the end.

Yeah a lot of these conventions just straight up dont apply to the wider industry For example the reusing of engines: Besides the yearly EA sports shlop, it's not actually as common to have games literally built off their predecessor, or at least it's not as evident that it is For example, you'd be hardpressed to find someone who thinks all the Souls games or the Street Fighter games look/feel the same beyond just being of the same series. Splatoon meanwhile is the same game repackaged twice now

@@__BlacklotuS__ doesn’t matter. it’s just odd to make a video talking about the video gaming industry as a whole, but almost every single example, point made, and game shown, was either from a nintendo game or basically only applies to nintendo. for example, most of the video he talks about sequels having a negative connotation because of reusing assets, ideas, even level themes etc. that’s almost exclusively a nintendo issue. galaxy to galaxy 2, 3D land and world, BOTW and TOTK, any mario sports game, splatoon, mario maker. all criticised for some or many of those reasons. but looking at other companies, you can’t hold that same standard to those who make direct sequels. look at the Souls series, or RE, or TLOU etc.

I at least sort of disagree that TotK wasn't a big departure from BotW. Of course I ddin't get the joy of experiencing a brand new hyrule/kingdom or whatever but I personally feel that TotK has a far more engaging world to explore. It feels like what I would've wanted from BotW which didn't reward you for exploring in as many ways as TotK does. The fusion mechanic in particular is so much more rewarding than simply finding and using some random weapon out in the wild. There's just so much more incentive to fight enemies and do other things. To be fair though It was also easier for me to enjoy and appreciate the differences from what I've played of TotK so far because I only played through BotW once when it came out where others might have played through it many times either casually or as a speed game.

It's issue is that it reuses a lot of missions. I get games tend to reuse mission structure. Even in the same game. But the exact same mission and characters us a bit much

@@TromboneGamer not if the world is smaller. Which I know isn't the best thing you can put on a box. I love smaller more distinct open worlds. It's why I love the yakuza games. They are able to do world building in such small worlds. Though I will say the remakes do suffer from reusing characters, stories and structure as well. That isn't really a budget thing and more on the lines of the devs really wanting to do bad comedy. Like, really bad comedy

18:52 If there are 20 levels in Super Mario Bros. 2, how did you go through 21? Anyway, this is one of my favorite Mario games. I never questioned its design when I was a kid, or even to this day. My stepbrother and I played through the whole game one night and ended up beating it, because we had never completed this game for how difficult it was for us at the time.

Nintendo has literally no reason to take the switch off the market. They’ll give it a price cut, and keep it on the market for another 3 years. I think they’re going for the title, otherwise why would they release so many amazing and high budget games to the switch so early?

It would be a major misstep if Nintendo did that in that year. Give it until either 2026 or 2027! Yet keep the eshop open for another 10 years or so!

I don't think it will be discontinued in 2024, sort of how the 3DS still got games after the switches launch. However I do think a new console will definitely be announced by 2024 since modern Nintendo consoles on average last 5-7 years before a new system comes out. Even the DS and Wii got replaced 6-7 years into their lifespan, and those were the high selling consoles. My personal guess is a new console will be announced in 2024, and released either late 2024 or early 2025. Not to mention it's very obvious the hardwares aging, I myself only play first and second party games on the system, but even with first and second party games, sometimes their performance tanks, hell I think Camilas Paralogue in FE: Engage is a great example of this since the game on default turns off ally phase animations to keep the game running "smoothly". They're definitely going to release a new system somewhere in the next 1-2 years, but I don't think a total discontinuation will happen until 2028-2030

I don’t think this is true. The PM TTYD remake is releasing next year. Unless the new console is backwards compatible, I think the new console would have to come out in 2025 or later.

What I am still waiting for is Super Smash Bros 64 to be released on NINTENDO SWITCH ONLINE. But if the Switch family of systems is supposed to be around for 10 years, by the time we get to Jan. 1, 2024, we are on YEAR 8. So I guess it would actually be discontinued in 2026. (I mean, "Possibly on Dec. 31, 2026".)

I have been thinking about one of their NINTENDO SWITCH ONLINE games (yes, NINTENDO SWITCH ONLINE for Switch 2) being the original Super Smash Bros about one of their first Nintendo 64 titles (released on NINTENDO SWITCH ONLINE for Switch 2). I would love to play both Smash 64 (if you buy it on the NINTENDO SWITCH ONLINE), Smash Ultimate, and Smash Ultimate Deluxe on the NINTENDO SWITCH 2. (NOTE: The original Super Smash Bros will also be one of the masterpieces for Super Smash Bros Ultimate Deluxe. On MASTERPIECES, you can play demos of retro games and the full version can be purchased for the NINTENDO SWITCH ONLINE.) So Super Smash Bros Ultimate Deluxe will have a total of 100 characters (in the base game). The possible newcomers for this game (yes, in the base game) are Dark Link, Waluigi, Meowth, Mew, Riolu, Aryll, Medusa, Viridi, Aiai (from the Super Monkey Ball universe), AND TY the Tasmanian Tiger. And like Smash 64, MELEE, BRAWL, and Smash 4, Smash Ultimate Deluxe will be back to having more starter characters than unlockables. (That is, with the newcomer Dark Link being the only newcomer to be available from the start. And counting Pokemon Trainer as one character, there will be 87 starter characters. Three can only be created. And that is Sportsmate Fighters from Nintendo Switch Sports --and they also serve as the enemy team on Mob Smash. Waluigi, Meowth, Mew, Riolu, Aryll, Medusa, Viridi, Aiai, AND TY the Tasmanian Tiger will all be unlockable.) And yes, there is at least one character from the Mario universe to be a newcomer. That is, Waluigi. (NOTE: I am sorry. But Toad and Toadette will not be playable, since Toad is part of Peach's neutral special move. As for Toadette, she will be part of Daisy's neutral special move instead of a Blue Toad.) So now that Waluigi is a playable character in Ultimate Deluxe, Mario and Luigi will no longer have their Waluigi attires. Instead, the Waluigi costume will be replaced with Mario's old dark blue costume (that being in a dark blue hat, a dark blue shirt, and red overalls). That is, for Mario. For Luigi, his Waluigi attire will be replaced with an entirely new costume. That is, his Builder Luigi attire (from SUPER MARIO MAKER). Charizard (from the Pokemon universe) still is back in his BRAWL's Final Smash (that being, Triple Finish), but he still transforms into Mega Charizard X when performing it. And Lucario, he will still transform into Mega Lucario when performing the Final Smash Aura Storm. (NOTE: So in Ultimate Deluxe, like Ultimate, Charizard and Lucario will still revert back to their original Final Smashes --Triple Finish and Aura Storm. But they can still transform into Mega Charizard X and Mega Lucario while performing them.) Still, I was really disappointed when VIRTUAL CONSOLE did not return (beginning with the Switch family in 2017).

I much preferred botw when that came out in 2017 it was a bigger surprise than totk today however totk is much better so it’s kind of weird which one is or was the best. However if someone hasn’t played them and could only pick one I’d recommend totk easily

Honestly I think it's my favorite console too. That or maybe the DS. The Wii has the best party/local multiplayer games, and overall the games are just a really fun and unique experience not like the others. I remember sometimes using it to watch KZbin videos on my TV screen too. The quality may not have been as good as the other consoles we have now but it provided fun times nonetheless.

from talks in the industry microsoft might be bowing out of the console game since pc gaming has become more mainstream these days with the handhelds from valve, asus, lenovo, gpd, one netbook, aok, and aya neo have come out and gotten into people's hand plus virtual reality still would be a thing even without the wii people have been trying to develop vr for years and if nintendo bowed out and released all thier legacy content via steam they con stop complaining about the emulation problem
