1. Great tribute. I learned a lot about the man. Do you guys know how incredibly fortunate you both are to have met him?! 2. I get lost staring into my morning coffee now. That was a trip. HOW did you do that?!

Well hell, the coffee commercial is stunning! Scratching my head at how you pulled many of those set ups off! And once again I come away with a recommendation I can't wait to check out. Will be seeing Lumiere ASAP. Thanks guys. I have my own mini Lynch story but it's not as good as either of yours.

Just noticed that Anson plays with his whiskers, exactly how Tom Selleck used to, when he was doing Magnum Pi.

Thank you. I really appreciated Branan's story about being in an Irish pub and the mood changing when they began playing a song about the troubles and how important that is to building a community. What a busy and interesting time you have both had. Thanks for sharing. Best wishes.

I'd be curious to hear what Anson's wife, as a mother, thinks of the Wild Robot. The original story and the screenplay were written by men, and the director is male, but it's the story of a female character and one scene in particular really rubbed me the wrong way in an otherwise wonderful story. SPOILER ALERT: The robot expresses that being a mom isn't in her programming and she has other goals. A mother possum brushes this off and says "Oh no one really does" regarding the programming and then says the baby goose IS the robot's goal now. The robot accepts the task immediately, dropping anything that mattered to her before. Women who feel deep down motherhood isnt for them have to live with this kind of invalidation and are pushed to question themselves, and women struggle so much with losing themselves within the demands of motherhood. The fable had some positive messages mixed in but yeah, I felt that one might do more harm than good, and, again... Didn't see any female names among the filmmakers. And it occurs to me most people today probably know Werner Herzog best from his role in The Mandalorian. The book sounds incredible, I'll definitely be listening to it, too! Great episode, as always. Thank you for the time and effort.

Wow! A busy fall for both of you. Leap Castle is supposed to be one of the most haunted places in Ireland (if you believe in that kind of thing). So it's no surprise that the owner tries to put on the creepy when guests come. I have to wonder, for Anson, which was more the pain to move: the wooden bed platform or the kiln? 😆

Hi friends, just wanted to tell you all what a kind man Anson Mount is. Went to a StarCon in San Antonio in October with my granddaughter, we dressed as CPT Pike (me) and his Number 1 (my granddaughter). We did the photo shoot and when we walked in Mr. Peck saw my granddaughter Aoife and said to his castmates "Hey guys look at this" and she was embraced by the cast for the photos, I stood next to Anson and we made small talk, I told him she and I watch his show together and she does no miss that he and I have a very similar appearance. Anson asked me what her name is, I told him, and he exerted his 'Command' as Captain halting the process of the next fan photo shoot and called her name as he got out of his chair and walked across the small room, took at knee next to Aoife and told her kind words such as thank you for coming and have a wonderful day. I was hoping to capture this moment on camera, but the photographer told me he took pics and would get them to me. Grateful, we left with a very nice memory and then minutes later that pic was populating my phone after I scanned the qr code to retrieve our photos. Again, what a wonderfully kind man Mr. Mount is and a spectacular show ST: SNW is.

@@drblast he really is. Back when he was filming Hell in Wheels he would do fundraising for his childhood friends boys that have Duchenne muscular dystrophy. I, as an artist made wood photo prints if the characters and aged them and contacted cast members fir signed photos if them as their character and they were very obliging. I sent 2 if the photo pieces and a railroad spike tonthe production office in Calgary in care of Anson asking if he would sign them and send back so i could do an online auction on a fan page. He signed and mailed them back. I ended up raising 2000$ for the FightDMD fundraiser for his friend kids.

If Anson likes Margaret Atwood, he should try Mary Doria Russell's books. The Sparrow is excellent science fiction, first contact story. She even wrote a western duology. She's one of my favorite authors, with whom I had to pace myself.

I just listened in on this and you guys are so entertaining! I love it! Then I found your part I with David Haskell and just kept nodding my head throughout. You should read the Secret Wisdom of Nature by Peter Wohlleben. I re-read it this summer while camping. So many connections! I am a teacher in Alberta and we are mandated to teach indigenous ways of knowing to our students. Indigenous people have known all of these secrets for millennia. My class is going to adopt a tree this year to get to know and observe. I don’t know how anyone can deny an intelligent creator once they learn the science of these connections. It’s impossible that it happened by chance. Thanks for the listen. I look forward to many more.
