This was the first one that I saw, right before I started lessons, possibly day one. I watched them throughout my training and never imagined that you would become a friend.

Yeah! I'm glad i meet you guys. This was my first flight at potm. Went alone, so i was lucky to run into John Heiney and Erica Klein. John told me that that's not the usual landing approach at potm. What do i know?😂 It was a weekday, and it was desolate. But, they guided me until i got it down. I was very grateful for them. Later that day, i ran into "Wisconsin Paul" (rip), who I hadn't seen for a few months. He was very elusive. He would launch and land a few weeks later! 😂 At least it seemed that way! Anyway, can't wait to see you guys again!✊

Thanks for taking me on this flight over my old stomping grounds. Started hang gliding Little Mountain in early 1970's and it did not take too long before I was at Crestline and Pine Flats. Spent a few decades flying there. Now living in Arkansas and retired from flight do to my health.

maybe stay upright the entire flight. You control the glider better when you're upright. Prone, your head goes one way, your legs the other way and basically you're zeroing out a non-input. If you're not moving your hips significantly right or left, nothing's going to happen. Also, maybe have someone tune that glider, doesn't seem to respond timely to an actual control input, or you're not using a 'J' hook input effectively? My landings have been sucking lately and I need to come up there and do the same thing you're doing. Just not flying the T2 enough.. what you're doing is going to get it done

Looks like fun! How did Jeff's landing end up? Vid ended too soon.
@freebirds3252 жыл бұрын
No, the vid didn't end too soon. My landing was like Noel's. You could see that my ground speed at 1000' was nearly zero due to that crazy wind. So as I got close to the ground, the reduction in wind speed due to the wind gradient took away my lift and I pancaked onto the ground. Slightly bent both weak links. The last 20-30 minutes of that flight was nerve-wrecking. I was 2-3k' higher than Noel and fighting endless lift. I couldn't get out of it no matter where I went. High-banked spiral diving, full flaps, was the only way to lose altitude.
@no_elzee2 жыл бұрын

Do you ever return to the launch site to land, or is it necessary to land at a safer spot in the valley? Also, plz, do you know where you are going to land before you launch? If so, I assume you have the property owner's permission (if it happens to be private property). I lived in Challis Idaho for 10 years, and drove past the road to King Mtn. Launch many times but never ventured up there. Cheers from Eagar, AZ.
@no_elzee2 жыл бұрын
Hi there Typically, each legit launch site has it's landing zone (LZ), usually about a mile or so, away from the launch site. Before we launch any site, we get familiar with the LZ, unless we are planning a cross country flight. In wich case, we land on the side of a road or an open field close to a road for an easy ride out.

Hi I bought the harness from Windsports, in Sylmar, when i was a student with them. There's no markings on it. Not sure of the manufacturer, either. But, it's a very basic knee hanger. I've modified and customized it since then. 🙏
