Bicycles in the street, eh, not generally a big fan of it. Being that by law, motorists have to give a bicyclist's a solid 3' of space when passing them, and then there's the ever present double yellow line issues, I really don't care much for seeing a bicyclist in front of me on the road. To me, they represent a road hazard and an accident just waiting to happen. On top of that, how many cyclists I see not obeying the traffic laws that pertain to every vehicle on the road, and also those that are specific to bicycles. I travel a road (Chagrin River Road in NE Ohio) to and from work every day that runs through a state park and follows a river. It's a beautiful ride with hills, dips, twists and turns, one after the other running for about 10 miles. One lane each direction and almost a solid double yellow line running the entire distance down the road. There are hardly any safe places to pass a vehicle throughout the entire length of road. Imagine the back up of cars we get from bicyclists during the riding season. You get behind one of these cyclists, and you're stuck driving 12 to 15 mph until you can work up enough courage to attempt a pass. I can't tell you how many times I've made my move to get around one of these cyclists only to have to dart back behind the cyclist because a car came up over the hill or around the corner coming in the opposite direction. River Road is posted to warn drivers about cyclists, however, just because something is allowed doesn't necessarily mean it's a good idea. Off hand, I can hardly think of a more unsuitable road for people to be riding their bicycles on, then add to that that they will ride in tandem, side-by-side rather in single file, and they will congregate in groups between 5 and 10 riders and completely ignore stop signs and just blast right through them...they make the afternoon commute home a real drag. To top it all off, as I said, this road runs through a state park. The park has designated multipurpose trails that are paved and permit cycle riding. River Rd runs through one of Ohio's more affluent areas; the people that live in that area are not hurting for money by any means. I can't understand why these well-to-do people don't just purchase a bike-rack to put on their BMW's, Lincolns and Escalades and Land Rovers and take their bikes to the park to ride is beyond me. I'm not anti-bicycle, in fact, the wife and I are waiting for delivery of bikes of our own. We've purchased a bike rack to hitch to my truck, and we will carry our bikes to the park and ride them there. We live only about 2.5 miles from the park, but the streets and roads on the route to the park have no sidewalks and are only 2 lane roads with little passing room. Too many people in this world that don't take others into consideration; we won't be amongst that group. Ok, just had to get that rant off my chest. I feel better now. LOL

I'd rather ride on the sidewalk and not worry about getting hit. For the who say about the pointless ageist sidewalk laws they aren't usually enforced and should be removed as laws anyways for discrimination against age.

Guilty i dont commute on my bike as much,because the homeless people have taken over the trails and side roads,and the highway is packed with people on their phones not paying attention.

Biking feels good, I would rather fly an F-16 than ride on an old bus. The Wabi further enhances the cycling experience. Doing it since 1972. .

Had the exact problem with my light, solved it also with some inner tube. Fixed in place with some electrical tape, so it does not fall off when I remove the mount. And of course get well soon.

I bought a $100. POC helmet after a car hit me, I never could get it to fit. The placement of those straps was the fault. It could not be adjusted. So back to WalMart for a perfectly good $25. helmet.

how is the view on that rearview mirror you have on the bottom tube?
@unsafevelocities5687
@unsafevelocities5687 28 күн бұрын
I've got the same mirror (Zefal Spy). The visibility is clear and vibration free, but it's pretty small. It might be OK where he's got it mounted as long as you don't have a pannier, but I've mounted it on my handlebars and it does have a fairly narrow FOV (I mostly see my leg unless I move my head). I also found it difficult to mount to a handlebar so I made some shims to stop it slipping around the bar. Mounting it to the wider tubes of a frame would _not_ have this issue. I really like the mirror itself, especially if I could keep it somewhere with line-of-sight, but I'm probably going to replace it with a bar-end bicycle mirror, helmet mirror, or even a universal motorcycle mirror.
