May be the most beautiful performance I've heard on a guitar! You're a master!

When this is sold as a single, definitely include a printed lyric sheet so people can read and hear what this song Trilogy is all about. This performance is one of a kind. So wow. Absolutely superb.

Very impressed by the synth lead sections, but the opening really screamed for piano. (Just my opinion, of course.)

My very first concert was ELP with the 70pc orchestra at Madison Square Garden. They lost their a$$e$ on that tour and had to drastically reduce the number of orchestra performances. Keith Emerson (R.I.P.) was as amazing a composer as he was a performer. Deep catalogue! When Greg Lake died, I was absolutely devastated. I cried for weeks. I was an avid fan and had played all their records to death. When all my other classmates were bringing their Sly Stone and Marvin Gaye records to the dance for the DJ to play, I brought Tarkus. Didn't even make it to "Stones Of Years" before they pulled the needle off it 😢

I did wonder how it was possible to create such a wealth of incredible sounds on a guitar. Thanks for sharing your secrets. So you're not a magician after all! Just an incredibly skilled guitarist with full knowledge of magical tools. I wish you every success in all you do, you have obviously put thousands of hours into honing your skills.
@blzbob79364 ай бұрын
Lovely. First heard it played with 'modern' instruments when Isao Tomita produced Snowflakes are Dancing in 1974. All done on synthesizers which was amazing back then. To see you master this on a fret board two handed is captivating. As a clumsy strummer of a guitarist myself, this is awesome! Thank you.

Tomita was my first introduction to Debussy - my Debussy arrangements are directly inspired by his interpretations

Catching up on your shows. And what a marvelous set of shows they are! You guys have taken the ELP music onto another level, and I am so pleased Carl has got you two with him to enjoy it with. Only seen you once a few years back at Northern Kin in the UK and I didn't think it was possible to recreate the ELP sound without a keyboard player, but how wrong I was! Yep, you are on another level and a delight for the senses. Bravo! x

Thanks so much! It's been a joy to play with Carl all these years - the experience has definitely steered my playing in a more keyboard inspired direction

Awesome is the only word for your skills. So glad I got to see you at Northern Kin a few years back. Best three piece on the planet, because of your use of technology combined with amazing fret board work. Carls passion is always a joy to behold. Please keep rocking till I can see you again!

Man I’ve been having such a rough time of it lately. Work, life, anxiety all of it through the roof. Remembered a decade ago I used to read your column in guitar technique magazine and looked you up here and I’m glad I did. This arrangement brought me back to earth so to speak. Thank you for this, and reminding me why I dug music in the first place.

Unbelievable! Keith was my favorite piano/keyboard player ever. I'm a pianist/keyboard player and I tried playing Trilogy when I was in high school, when the record (!) first came out. I had to stop and start the record player to get a few bars at a time so I could play it. I didn't have a synthesizer, but I do now, since I've been in bands for many years. This is incredible. I met Keith backstage after a concert in Tarrytown NY. I am positive he would absolutely love this performance, and Carl is still the man! Everyone here is super talented. Thank you! My favorite ELP piece. I'm going to send a copy of this to my brother, who grew up on Trilogy as I did. Many thanks!

I usually play these arrangements crystal clean, but the producer's request for this video was for us to push the amp a little hard to make it break up in places. It's a difference approach and gives an interesting effect, but I think I agree with you

@@PaulBielatowicz I’m certainly not saying I have ever done better. Just being devils advocate really. I wouldn’t have commented at all if I didn’t think you’re playing was lush. I appreciate good right hand fingering tekkers:-D
