58:52 I really need the anime treatment for this one panel and the scenes leading up to it. Also your analysis is actually worth listening to. You really convinced me that it made a lot of sense for Clare to team up with Riful.

First anime series I ever watched. And to be 'that' guy: Eucatastrophe is when a good thing happens because a bad event occurs. Gollum getting the Ring from Frodo appears to be worse case but it's only because of that event that leads to the destruction of the Ring. And Crusader is right, it IS peak writing.

I agree with you in that both are high quality pieces of work that tell different stories with the same characters. If I want a brighter adventure story in that universe, I go with Brotherhood. If I want a darker character study, I go with '03. I wish that the '03 show was more readily available to watch.

This was one of my favorite shows from when I was a kid. My parents didn’t really question my choice in anime…so I got to watch some that maybe I shouldn’t have quite yet. But I loved the music and the story. I’m personally grateful that I didn’t know about season 2.🩷

The attention to the gentlemanly premise to war (see The Geneva Conventions and Nationalism), the story pacing and push and pull on the characters intentions, and the way the technical world interleaves into the story to provide opportunities and problems all resulted in a teenage obsession that continues into the manga and realised prequel animation

back in the early 2000s there was a REALLY BAD HABIT of butchering someones work. Sometimes its excused, Full metal alchemist barely had a bunch of volumnes when then first ahnime was made , so they had to make their own take. But if there is something i can say about FMA anime... was that it understood part of its home assignment. Sure, it was more broody and depressive, but because it had the more broody and depressive moments from the manga compressed. then you have Gantz, the moment gantz separated from the manga, it was downhill. When it comes to this topic im very stubborn about author iintent preservation. And ... i have to be on the author side. Sorry if you liked the butchered version, but the author is the owner of the IP and he decides if this work represents his. And if he doesn-t maybe it doesnt I didnt read the manga, maybe the manga had season 1 style stories but the anime was going into a very dark territory the manga never wanted to touch, after all, something similar happened with Fullmetal alchemist, wich veered into a more grounded approach, there was no father, the door is barely mentioned. Instead its more focused on the human aspect. ON the alchemists. I LOVE tucker having an entire development non existant in the manga... Still i recognize the manga is the real Full metal alchemist, the anime was more of , just an adaptation, a sister project.

What im saying is that you didnt watch gunslinger girl, you watched some fanwork that you found better than the original. work... But the author didnt want a fanwork, he wanted his story animated, even if its worse in your opinion. Im sorry thats how it is. You watched weapon shooter ladies, not gunslinger girls. IM not saying adaptations that take liberties are entirely bad. problem is when the adaptation doesnt vibe with the author. What do i mean? Watch Saint seiya. Kurumada loved so much the anime, he borrowed some of the lore. some of the designs that originally were in the anime , and retroactively put them in his manga. Thats when you know the author vibes with the adaptation. Sometimes this doesnt happen. And this was the case.

When it comes to the downgrade in quality, WEll one things MAD FREAKING HOUSE. the other is a hit and miss company wich missed more than they hit. And they were on their last legs when they worked on this show, thats a good indicative this couldnt compare with the first season, I dont think the problem was that it stuck closer to the manga, the problem is that this wasnt a studio as strong and well staffed as madhouse.

I absolutely adore both versions of FMA, they are both in my top 10 animes of all time. While I do overall prefer Brotherhood, the material that both series cover, or what comprises the first 13 or so episodes in Brotherhood, is done with much more poise, subtlety, and is fleshed out far more in the original series. Plus, I actually enjoy 2003's filler episodes, as they are some of the best examples of how to do filler tastefully.

kinda sucks, tbh! It's extremely overwrought. The main character self-reflects for 3 minutes just to say what basically amounts to "people die when they are killed", 5 or 6 times an episode, and the show fucking crawls as a result. There's also a musical interlude in the 2nd episode that lasts 10 minutes. It's fine, but it sure as fuck ain't *good*.

hell yeah, i even played the games. Not all though and i was surprised Suda51 had a hand in Blood+ game. About Blood C it's practically CLAMP going a lot rusty because Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle and xxxHolic ARE GODDAMN GOOD! (in my eyes) and you could arguably say that it was Blood in name only

I don't really find the premise that stupid. If you're looking to train the perfect assassin, one thing you might look for is a sense of innocence. A sense that this person could do no wrong. Someone a high profile target wouldn't take a second glance. Someone you would not expect to be a bloodthirsty killer on aesthetics alone. Someone small and agile. Like a child soldier. And even then, in our society young boys for the most part have a sense of being rowdy and unpredictable. So young cyborg girls seems like the logical next step to that. I can't believe I just came up with a logical explanation for a "Little Girls with big guns" anime. I've literally never even seen this series (yet) and just your video has really pulled me into this world.

I think the illustration explaining why Claus is paralyzed seems inaccurate. The image shown is from the Last Exile Aerial Log book. However, the art book that contains the relevant information is actually Last Exile Aerial Log Ginyoku no Fam , which has a different cover from the one shown in the video.

The crazy age gaps with young girls and old men might be influenced by what society dictates and what most men say they prefer, they often say "we like young girls" so this gets to the collective conscious and authors, especially women authors, think is the best thing to do because they seek validation from said men or they try to project that into their characters. But it's a vicious circle because they deliver weird content including couples with age gaps, that was influenced by the idea of what men prefer and also they feed that weird idea.
