Was quite the machine, in it's day!! I've seen one 44 parked in the corner of a field. The seat cushion was wider than the cylinder.. would make a great yard ornament! Thank you Mike!!

I would like to have an old John Deere 55-95 combine just to run 50 acres a year on to grow my own grain instead of buying that expensive crap

Hey Mike! Good to see your granddaughter running combine!!! My granddaughter is a little young yet.. (14 months old) You got me thinking, my oldest daughter runs combine, but I don't believe her grandfather got to see her running it.. as I believe she started running it about a month after he passed.. by I know he's smiling from heaven!!

@@wayoutwestranch2987 you did a good job Mike! And so did she!! That's awesome! Hopefully she's doing well in school! Ty was 18 when she got tossed in the combine and got a crash course from me.. I swapped seats with her about halfway through the first semi load. She refuses to run the big baler though.. but cuts, rakes bunches and loads trucks. Hopefully you are all doing well!

I never thought of using a grinder mixer as a seed tender! I'm 48 and the bulk of my equipment, with the exception of my combine is just a shade younger than myself. Yes it works and I'm working for myself and not daddy Case and mother Deere.

It may seem quaint by today’s standards, but that was quite a step up from the old cycle bar mower. I have a similar old swather buried under a barn that collapsed that I used to use.

How many nights have you fallen asleep as soon as your head hit the pillow out of absolute exhaustion from a 16 hour day and you ache head to toe. That machine probably added years to someone’s life the amount of labor it saved them. I’ve got a lot of respect for people working to keep food on there communities plates.

The Great Depression was soul crushing for America and her farm/ranch families who held on by shear force of will. We were raised to take care of the land, our livestock and equipment because it was all we have against want and depravation. Forget the banks and equipment companies pushing debt and new paint - 'so called' efficiency too often isn't as you slip into debt slavery one weak moment after another. 'More' is a trap if debt is the means.
