Many countries claim it's origins as well as being featured as a game guards use to play to pass the time. The Origins of Space Chess to be somewhat similar to Backgammon whether deliberate or not is still cool when you think about it. If anything, it says how well thought out the Star Wars Universe is, apparently even when it comes down to mundane objects that have no relevance to the story line.

I personally like the Jabba scene from A New Hope. Do I think it's unnecessary? Yes. Do I think the 1997 version looks ugly? Absolutely. But the 2004 DVD version I think looks really good. It actually doesn't matter that there are two ways to say "Alderaan". After all, there are at least two, equally correct ways to pronounce "France" in English (and neither of them is quite the same as how the French themselves pronounce it). It's not even a problem that there are two ways of saying "Han" and "Leia". After all, an American won't typically pronounce a British "t" when talking about a Brit called "Peter", nor will a Brit use an American flapped "t" when referring to an American "Peter".

Whether or not you like Ian? Everyone loves Ian. He can do no wrong. He shouldn’t have been brought back for rise of Buttstuffer but there is no Star Wars fan that has a problem with Ian.
