Awesome setup! Are the racks removable for when you aren't camping or do you leave it on? Also how easy is it to pull down the soft top with the rack on? Looking for ideas to camp with a soft top, thanks! (:
@lesstraveled4740
@lesstraveled4740 Жыл бұрын
Rack is removable but the set up for me is permanent. Everything stays on all year long. The top is hard to remove with the rack on and if your looking for a top down set up you want the hard top with the front panels that come out. That would work better with my set up. I love my set up though

Do the tent is same size as the Jeep why not sleep in the jeep and put accessories out on top or little trailer..the ladder thing and being on top doesn't seem safe and what if the wind gets crazy
@lesstraveled4740
@lesstraveled4740 Жыл бұрын
Actually the tent is way bigger than trying to sleep in the Jeep. Why not sleep in the Jeep? I have and the tents more comfortable. Why not a trailer? Would love one but sometimes it’s quicker to always be packed so I can go on a moments notice. I have been out in very high winds and it’s no different than a ground tent. As safety wise, I actually feel safer higher up.

@@Coyotes_Locos a little wobbly but I don’t notice, no strain on the tailgate hinges, and I carry a propane tank and trasharoo permanently. As for buying again, I might have bought smaller Rotopax. @@lesstraveled4740 thanks for your response. I had a camp off the grant road 25 years ago. As you turn off the blacktop onto the grant road I'm guessing maybe a mile back on the right you will see a metal gate, this was our entrance to our camp. You could only drive so far back and then you had to walk the rest of the way to get to camp which was down in the hollow. This camp was so secluded and way back in that hunters that parked on the hardtop and walked back in thought no way they were going to run into someone lol. Well we had more hunters drinking coffee during hunting season then out hunting. We were quite successful hunting bear turkeys and deer in this area during hunting season. So much wildlife in that area. After a days hunt we headed to Benezette for our couple of bucks shower with stinky iron water. Then to the Medix hotel was our hangout, the owners at the time were Jerry and Sherry, we were good friends with them. Many times we stayed after hours and drank with Jerry and Sherry. They would let us keep our game as long as we quarter it in there coolers until time to go home. Then the entertainment in the summer was the wet-T shirt contest and rattlesnake hunts that took place in the hotel parking lot. Quite entertaining. Right across the road from the hotel was an old grocery store run by a very old lady ( Mrs Pissner) very limited stock like 2 cans of tomatoe soup, 4 loafs of bread and a couple gallons of milk etc. we always stopped in to chat with her. Never own a camp with family to much disagreement that's why I had to get out. Now that my kids are all grown up my wife and I bought a travel trailer and would like to spend a weekend on the Grant Road. I will be contacting the Forestry. You and your family enjoy the area and always be safe!
