This is a special place to me and my family and others in the area. I went here as a young kid back in the late 60's with two of my Uncles who lived down the road at my Grandfather's farm. It was probably my very first hike and first experience in a natural, wooded place such as this. The memories are fuzzy, but it was a gray winter day and as I recall the waterfall was not running but frozen with icecicles. It was all very beautiful and I was enthralled and amazed to be in such a place, as I had no idea places like this existed at this time. I think it was the beginning of a love of nature and the outdoors and it continued and grew as I aged and much later became an avid hiker and camper. I learned a few years back that a friend of mine is kin to the Anglins who owned this property before it became the property of Berea College. I have read there are some rare plants that grow in this ravine that grow nowhere else. The larger area where this waterfall is located is part of what was called Clear Creek by the locals and Disputanta by the Post Office. (yeah there's a story there) I came here often with my family to visit my Grandparents on down the road a couple of miles. They are both buried in a small graveyard right on the side of the road. There was also a country store down the road and also a lake we used to fish some. All of these roads were gravel back then. I have many memories of this area and interesting stories. As a side note, the former country music duo "The Judds" lived on up the road several miles at Morrill back in those days before they became famous and they learned to sing in this area. Berea College also did some studies on Appalachia and chose the Clear Creek area for these studies. Many of my kin folks were interviewed and recorded on tape, telling what life was like here. You can find that info on their web site. I'm now 63 years old and hope to go back to Anglin Falls soon. Thank you for sharing the video.

Rock bridge road closed? Guess the recent rains washrd the road out. Merry Christmas to you and Cane!!!
@thelifeofdavid85922 күн бұрын
@camoplumber no the road is fine, the last few years or so, Forest Service has been closing Rock Bridge, Chimney Top, and Tunnel Ridge roads during the winter months to prevent erosion on the gravel roads.. I can't remember if Indian Creek roads are open or not, but you can still road walk or bike on the closed roads
