its been a while, but i don’t remember it being too bad. unless it was a long uphill stretch. my buddy went solo and he pedaled quite a bit. but it is electric so you don’t have to pedal at all if you don’t want to.

This is a really cool one. Can you put together a how to on this one?
@mohawkpiper2 жыл бұрын
probably not. but it’s pretty simple. each small regular shroom is two leds in a strip folded over so one points up and one points down. the larger cap shrooms also have a ring of 6-8 leds pointing outwards. the half shrooms on the sides of a log are just a half ring. all the caps are covered in polymorph plastic and molded to shroom shape. the stems are also polymorph plastic just put around the wires of the leds (i used white shrink tubing around the wires or white wires so the wire color doesnt show thru). drill holes in the wood and thread the wire thru the hole and pull the shroom into the hole. then wired it all to a super simple bare bones arduino (basically and atmega328, clock, and a few caps, or an atmega 644 or 1244 if they had a lot of color modes and leds. i cant remember off the top of my head). one thing to note is that the notion that leds dont burn out is in fact not true and they are pretty solid with breathing room, but when suffocated they can burn pretty easily. with them embedded in the polymorph plastic like that, they cant breath. i havent had any issues with the smaller cap shrooms (2 leds) but with any of the larger ones an led burns out here and there if i purchase cheaper led strips. so i either have to eat the cost of more expensive strips or if i go with cheaper strips i have to limit the brightness in code or just stick to as few leds per shroom as i can
@mohawkpiper2 жыл бұрын
oh also for the folded over 2 led in the small caps i go with 5050s but for the rings and half rings i go with 3535s cuz they are a lot smaller allowing me to make the shrooms smaller. all leds are strip form. rbgws to keep the heat and power down when blending to white. i believe 60 per meter spacing but im not 100% sure on that. maybe its 144/m for the 2 leds folded one but for rings i think its 60/m

@mohawkpiper I appreciate the explanation very much but that's far more advanced than my limited knowledge of electronics. I just started getting into the arduino world a couple months ago. I will be writing down your instructions though and when I have a better understanding of it all will give the mushrooms a try. Thanks

This spring I will start to grow my first carolina reaper, I wish that I will have 20 plants or maybe more. I really like gardening, especially this part of growing peppers. Last year I tried Jalapeno and it was a success, maybe I'll start a small business from this passion :D Very nice and enjoyable video. Some says on the internet that it takes 3 months for carolina reaper to be riped, but as I see in your video it took less, like 40 days

My reaper peppers are very round and don’t look as wrinkly as yours. Is this a bad thing?
@mohawkpiper3 жыл бұрын
My opinion is, it isn’t a bad thing, but they likely are not reapers. Seeds get mixed up sometimes. My wife had a different variety of pepper she was growing this year that was not what it was supposed to be. We couldn’t figure out what it was, so she cut the plant down. I don’t know where you got your seeds, but reaper seeds off Amazon have a high chance of not being reapers. Try getting seeds from puckerbutt farms and compare the two next year. Also, you can post on reddit r/hotPeppers to see if anybody can tell you what you have.

@mohawkpiper this was a cool video. How did you make this time lapse if you don’t mind me asking?
@mohawkpiper3 жыл бұрын
i don’t mind at all. i set up an old gopro on a mount by the plant. it had a setup so i could have it plugged into an outlet so the battery wouldnt die, and it had the ability to put a cover on for the days/nights it rained. I set it to take a picture every minute. i would have preferred to take a pic every ten minutes or so, but the slowest the gopro would do was minute intervals. every night i would take the memory card out, but leave the camera in place. the memory card had enough room to hold enough photos for i think at most, four days straight, so i didnt have to pull the footage every night, but i aimed to do it every night if i could. but the whole time we were filming, i couldnt be away for more than four days. when i took out the memory card, i would copy the photos to my computer and remove the photos off the memory card and put the memory card back in the gopro and start it up again. i would delete every other photo since i didnt need it in minute intervals, then put all the footage together in after effects. i dont remember exactly what interval timing i used in the end, but it was probably closer to one pic every seven to twelve minutes or so. i wrote a few scripts in after effects to pull the photo timestamp and date, and i didnt use any photos while the sun was down, except for a little when it was going down and coming up.

oh i also put a reflective board on the ground at an angle to reflect the sunlight upward from underneath since the leaf canopy blocked out a lot of the light and made it pretty dark. it helped lighten it up a little but not as much as i would have liked it to

How old was the plant before you let it set fruit? Did you prune? Thanks
@mohawkpiper3 жыл бұрын
It was just over 5 months before my wife let it set fruit, and yes, she pruned, both any leaves that didnt look too great, or had lots of aphids, and flowers that started early, to let it focus it's growth on the plant rather than the fruit earlier on
@@mohawkpiper I'm trying to use the code modified but my led strip doesn't turn on. I think is about the potentiometer, because I used the original code and works, at least turn on. Can you share your code? I'm trying to use to do a coffe table to my new house but I'm totally noob on Arduino -_-
@mohawkpiper3 жыл бұрын
@@Vorh i am not so willing to help debug, as it can possibly be pretty time intensive. If you think it is the pot, remove it from the code and set the brightness to 1 for starters. There are places you can go for help debugging problems like the arduino forum, the adafruit forum, and the teensy forum (if you are using a teensy, like i am.) They would need more info, like what modified code you are using, what microcontroller you are using, what led strips you are using, your setup, etc. Best of luck!
