Personally, I see this has a poor response. You can see from the outset the fire was in the roof of large house. BA team 1 x hosereel should of been committed sooner, to the loft space. 2nd x hosereel to knock main fire down. 3rd x hosereel with BA team to loft space of bungalow. The drivers should of been sorting out water supply immediately. Looks like the Sunday driving of Essex fire service. Not good at all.

I was in Essex fire brigade some years ago, until they rebranded it as a fire and rescue service. Started on a machine with a wooden 105 ladder, and was soon on a 135 ladder. We even had a wheeled escape for one day, why? Because our appliance caught fire (whilst at a shout). I really feel for them when they are searching wearing BA, when you actually find someone in a fire it's devastating! 64 now, I would go back and do it all again if I could.

I'm no firefighter and I didn't even watch the whole video so not sure my comment counts for much. But the house next to the garage should surely not have ended up fully burnt to a crisp??!

health and safety, and budgets. surprised first response was not one firefighter, with an extinguisher, in a taxi, or on a bus. disgrace is the only comment, not to the guys, but to the penny counting pen pushers in charge.

Served in Belfast, N.Ireland 1975-82. No job comes even close.

i was at an accident a month ago and had to go under the car to check on a man, who had been killed instantly. the memory of that lived with me for a month. theese guys see that maybe once every couple of months. they must hold a lot of bad memories. true gentlemen.

As a retired Sub Officer, I found it very difficult to watch this, the standing around and wandering around because apparently you are not allowed to enter with BA until the fire is extinguished!!?? I have been retired 15years and in my day our BA wearers would have forced entry and got in to tackle the fire within! The two storey house was burning in the eves quite early on, if crews had got in and upstairs and in the loft, I would say the house would have been saved IMHO!!! 🤨🥴. ‘H’

the electrical intake cupboard, scary as hell, if it was a thicc cable hopefully it took out the substation fuses. smaller cables will just continuously explode... scary af, respect to the fire brigade from a sparky

Funny how times change, what was considered “banter” is now bullying, what was a practical joke is now hazing. Even when this was filmed, the practice of mickey taking & jokes was under scrutiny, hence the down playing of it in the film. I think there was a probationary fire fighter that died around this time as a result of being tied to a ladder & being suspended over a water pool, the ladder fell in one end & he drowned. This era of the fire service was a tough one ! Everyone had highly flammable furniture & almost everyone smoked ! Terrible combination.

I was pregnant and had a child whilst I was on the fire service. I attended calls until I was about 8 months along and I returned to duty when my son was about 2 months old. Yes, it was hard. And also really good.

What's the use of spraying water onto the roof, the fire is INSIDE the building! Even back in the 19th century James Braidwood said firemen must get INTO a building, not fight a fire from outside. Pity these men don't know that. And a hose reel should be operating within seconds of arriving. Were these guys trained in the USA, where firefighters wandering around in slow motion has become far too common?
