Good fair review. I test drove a manual Jimny a few weeks ago and thought it drove pretty well in quite windy conditions. As you said it’s relative to what you’re used to. I’m driving a 24 year old Mazda sp20 familia with 409000km so the Jimny is a step up. I thought it was pretty quiet also. The only issue is the small boot space and somewhat underpowered engine. Still deciding if I want it. Prices of used ones are coming down here in NZ.

Hey mate, thanks and yes still happy. No new mods. The car still gets used as a road car first and foremost. I feel I'm at the point where doing anything more would make it a better off-road car and worse road car. If you're buying a demo you could try negotiate for them to cover the first annual service. They change the diff oil so it's a bit pricey.

Smooth road test is useless on solid axles Jimny. Try to find uneven and chock full pothole road and you going to find the Jimny hops and skips all over the road. Lack of cup holders for both driver and passenger annoyed you, then don’t get Jimny! If you find the chair lack support, don’t get the Jimny as it going to punishing your back on long ride, the soft suspension will make body roll more pronounced. Stiffer coils and shocks will make Jimny bucking like rabbit so stay away from this if you easily get car sick.

Thank you for the very informative video, I’m looking to buy this for my first car, I live in Tokyo Japan, I will be using it mostly for city driving and commuting to my wife’s hometown in the countryside occasionally and transporting my cat safely. Thank you
@thehardshift

Yes, I would recommend it for a beginner driver. It's small. Easy to park and maneuver. Tires are thick so you don't have to worry about damaging them on the curb. Also sitting up high gives you good visibility and will help with driving confidence. Get the car and practice in low traffic environments (early morning/late night), you'll be a great driver in no time. It will start to feel very natural very quickly to you.

Very happy with the tire size. Height feels about where it should be for a car that is used for commuting and the occasional off-roading. Never hit the guards. The car still gets blown around. I'd say it's slightly better at recovering from it. It's still a box that doesn't weigh a whole lot at the end of the day. I've seen posts from others online saying they've added weight to the rear to help it but it'll hurt your fuel economy. In saying that, there's probably only been a handful of times I've had to slow down under 100km. I just hold on tight and blast through it.

Nice, thanks for sharing, I just did this track the other day for the first time. I had similar experience weather wise to you. Although the track does suit my MX5 really well with it being mostly corners its cool to see how the 86 compares. It looks like you left a lot of time out there in the braking zones especially that one on the little straight, I have a similar issue trying to get brave enough to accelerate until the last moment, it doesn't help the track having no braking markers. That track eats tires when its dry so you were kinda lucky with the weather. Car sounds cool BTW
