Great video! I have a question. I sell gifts on my Shopify stores like metal wall art for home decor and Housewarming gifts and I am planning to run responsive search ads. So should I run phrase match campaign for keywords like “Housewarming gifts”, “gift for new homeowners”, “gift for newlyweds” or should I run only exact match for keywords above? Also can I combine phrase match and exact match keywords in same ad? And I last question- how many keywords do you recommend having in 1 ad?
@FocusYourAds3 ай бұрын
As of now, I would say that you probably want to start with exact match. See how much traffic you start to get. If you are struggling to spend, then you could look at adding phrase match. You can have exact and phrase together as a bit of a hybrid. But keep in mind that they will be sharing the traffic in a way. So if you turn one off, then the other one might get more traffic. With regard to the number of keywords. I usually keep it between 5 and 10. Essentially you want to keep the ad relevant. So if you can do that while having more keywords, then feel free to add more.

@@FocusYourAds thanks a lot! I am planning to start with 1 google shopping Ads (10 products) with $50 per day budget for all 10 of them combined and 10 responsive search ads(1 per product) with $5 per day Ad budget for each of the 10 products so total $100 per day for both shopping and search ads combined. Is this a good strategy? If not, how do you determine how much budget to allocate per day to any campaign?
@FocusYourAds3 ай бұрын
@Om-gg5tk sounds like that should work. Keep an eye on the search impression share and you can give yourself a pretty good idea on how much potential volume you have. There isn’t really a target number to shoot for but it will give you some good info to work with.

@@FocusYourAds thanks again! Also I have seen some mixed opinions online about running PMAX campaigns on a new account. Some say that you shouldn’t run PMAX campaign until you have 30 conversions in 30 days while some say that PMAX campaigns should be started right away as PMAX advertises products on many channels while shopping campaigns only focus on type. So I was wondering what is your opinion on this? Should I run PMAX campaign instead of Shopping campaign? I have got only 7 sales so far after $2,850 in google ads spend in last 3 months.

Thanks for the video! What is your process for tracking calls from the location asset (calls that occur from map ad placements). Can you control what conversion action these show up under?
@FocusYourAds5 ай бұрын
You can get automatic conversion actions for people getting directions however I am not aware of any custom tracking that you can do with this. Unfortunately the automatic ones will only count toward a true conversion if you are using PMax. But you can still see them in other campaigns under “all conversions” as they will count as a secondary conversion.

Great video! When you create your search campaign, should you put your product page URL where you want the customers to land in “website visits” section OR Do you put only the home page link in the “website visits” section? Or it doesn’t matter?
@FocusYourAds5 ай бұрын
It’s going to depend on what you are looking to accomplish. But if the ad is specific to a certain product and you have a product page dedicated to that product, then I would suggest adding the product page for the final URL. But if you have a one product store and the home page also talks about the product. Then in that case I would create two ads and test them. Or you could create an experiment and test with the experiment feature. I always default to testing if I’m not sure.

Hi, won’t adding negative keywords on account level impact all campaigns including search and google shipping as well in this account? What happens if we have negative keywords added per campaign for search and google shopping campaigns then? As in, will account level negative keywords take precedence over campaign level negative keywords?
@FocusYourAds5 ай бұрын
You are 100% correct. Account level will take precedence over the other negatives and they will affect each campaign. If you don’t want this, you can reach out to Google support to have negatives added directly to a PMax campaign instead. However it takes awhile to get in touch with Google support.

You should have assets but it might be in a different location. If you are using the old design for google ads then it might be under ads & assets -> assets instead of finding it directly. If you still can’t find it. Try searching “assets” in the search function at the top of your google ads page.

They used to have a local campaign but this got replaced by performance max. So unfortunately you can’t do this. But if you are using search ads, you can have a location asset in place that will allow people to click the location directly from the ad. how would this all work if the store has a variety of different unrelated products, so more of a general store? What would you do for audiences, or product segmenting in your adgroups etc?
@FocusYourAds9 ай бұрын
If you wanted to have a different budget for those, you could create a separate ad group for each type of product. Then you can add the audiences to the ad group level if you wanted to examine audiences for each separately. Or if you needed to control the budget, you could create a whole separate campaign for a different product. But be careful making things to complex. It can get hard to manage if you start to break it up too much.

the negative keywords have to be the best converting search terms ?
@FocusYourAds2 жыл бұрын
Yes. As long as you only connect the lower priority campaigns only. To push that term to the LOW campaign. You would attach the negative to the High and medium priority campaigns. That forces that term down the funnel. Hope that makes sense.
@Maxtunes25902 жыл бұрын
@@FocusYourAds I just started the campaigns some days ago and I just have impressions and clicks with no conversions, in that scenario , which would be the negative keywords ?
@FocusYourAds2 жыл бұрын
You have to understand your market to apply this. Having conversions helps you understand what people are searching for however before you get to that point you need to select something that you want to target with a higher bid. I see this used a lot of times when a company wants to target people searching the product name. Maybe there are certain descriptors you end up wanting to target. This method just lets you target different terms that are important to your business. Terms that might lead to a sale.

@FocusYourAds2 жыл бұрын
There could be a lot of reasons for this. If you are targeting something very specific, it could mean that there is no search volume for that. You could try increasing the bids for the low campaign. Double check your campaign priorities as well and make sure your negative keywords are connected to the correct campaigns. Low should should have no negative keyword lists attached to it, other then the stuff you want to fully exclude. Let me know if none of that solves your problem.

@Focus Your Ads finally found a video that was related to my issue. actually i was searching for a way to setup two different campaigns for brand and non brand keywords. I see you did the same thing here by creating a negative keyword list. But your focus is more on the brand keywords rather than the generic ones. Suppose i want both brand and non brand shopping ads to perform well, is there a way to work around that

Take a look at my newest video. In it, I go into a three tier setup. This might be more of what you were looking for. kzbin.info/www/bejne/iYano2xtibVjf6M
@FocusYourAds2 жыл бұрын
Maybe I misunderstood your question. It sounds like you want brand and generic to both perform well. With the alpha/beta setup or even a low/med/high setup, you can have them all perform well. The reason you split them is because you may want to spend more on the bottom of the funnel terms such as brand and product. But do take a look at the other video I posted. It does go into more detail and talks about the low/med/high setup. This may help you create what you want as well.

I think I missunderstand something basic in the video. I thought negative keywords were telling google you don't want tp spend money on these serach terms? The keyword lists in the video have the words you do want to be found for.
@FocusYourAds2 жыл бұрын
Hi Derwent, thanks for the comment. So, negative keywords are normally used for terms you don’t want to use, however since shopping traffic is relatively uncontrolled. The only way to grab some control is either to try and eliminate everything you don’t want. Or, by creating multiple campaigns that work together. The structure I show allows you to filter keywords rather then eliminate them completely. Using campaign priorities and negative keywords together can give you a ton of control on what you show up for. Hope that helps. If not, let me know and I’ll try to explain it further.
@babygear2 жыл бұрын
@@FocusYourAds Thanks for replying. In my Beta I set up all the keywords I think we need to capture, and they are in the send to Alpha, so does that mean that Alpha gets those keywords? In Alpha I only have the the list No go to Alpha or Beta keywords. (with only one keyword in it at the moment)

Thanks for the video. How much time roughly would it take to manage and optimise these campaigns each week or month? Thank you.
@FocusYourAds3 жыл бұрын
Hi Karyn, It can really depend on the size of the account and how proficient you are at it, however once you have them running properly, it wouldn't take too much time to run them each week as long as you don't need to make any big changes. Maybe a few hours a week. I have seen some accounts that were setup this way and left without touching them at all. They actually did surprisingly well. A lot of it is going to depend on how active you want to be. You could be in there daily cleaning out search terms. It will also depend on the size of your advertising budget. A large budget will demand more attention to make it run smooth.

Definitely. I think smart is a good way to go, however I would want to start with a manual method before going to smart. This will give the algorithm something to work with. I'm currently testing a few of my accounts to see what kind of results I can get by switching them to smart shopping.
