Nice unlock! Quick question: What's your favorite pick brand? I'm currently looking at options like Moki, the upcoming Apex release, and Rob Lawn custom picks (I’d ask him to make 20-thousandths picks in low, short, medium, and high profiles, plus he can make them in cork handles which will grip well). I've also considered Multipick. What’s your take on the best brand? Personally, I feel like Covert doesn’t offer enough variety in pick depths (low, short, medium, and high). It could just be my lack of picking skills, but I feel I might be able to open more locks if I had a wider range of pick depth options. What do you think?
@georgiajim2260Күн бұрын
@@TheLockWhisperer I don’t really have a favorite brand, more favorite profiles from different brands. I’m personally not a fan of Multipick hooks, the shafts are very narrow and while they’re good for really tight keyways they have a lot of flex and not a good choice for heavy handed pickers imo. I feel like between the reaper set and genesis/echelon profiles CI has their bases covered. The Apex line has a lot more profiles but won’t have anything thinner than .020 for a while. Jimy Longs is a good option for basic hooks shapes as he offers low, short, medium and deep hooks in both flat and round. Moki has a nice selection of hook depths also but I don’t feel like they do anything Jimy hooks don’t do already at a lower cost to the user. Also Moki have more flex than Jimy unless you go with his Xtra series which are the one’s I use the most from Moki’s lineup. I only like a couple profiles from Sparrows like the SSDEV set and the tron from the Monstrum set. Lawlock’s Tipene profiles are the only one’s I ever actually use from that brand. I can’t answer if more pick options will make you a better picker, you have to find what works best for you and what profiles best transfer feedback in a way that makes sense to you.

Great preview of them thank you so much Jim. I hope they make this set with a little bit sharper edges that gives so much feedback and grip like the Jimy Long and Peterson, I doubt it though. Maybe I could do it myself with a Dremel tool.

Why can't I get my bypass driver to work on my 1100? I removed the security wafer and I'm in the right spot I even broke the lock down to make sure I was placing it properly.. it is a brand new lock and the mechanism is stiff like I removed the cylinder I moved it with a screwdriver, all part of the learning process you know, is that it simply the The locks just new/too stiff particularly Strong spring or something?
@georgiajim22605 күн бұрын
@@ricksanchez3204 some can be very stiff and hard to get the tool between the tail piece on the core and the actuator. Make sure you have your tool marked so you’re 100% certain when you’ve cleared the core (this helps prevent turning too early and breaking the driver). Push in with a decent amount of force while wiggling the tool and you’ll feel it slip about a quarter inch deeper into the lock and that is when it’s ready to turn.

I bought it and now I'm disappointed and scared D: How would you rate it in scale 1-10? What are the best door locks?
@georgiajim22607 күн бұрын
@@kpg7882 your lock is fine. Statistically thieves don’t pick locks and destructive entry is much faster than picking. For pick resistance it’s probably a 6/10 and that’s for someone who is knowledgeable about picking and the model of lock. That lock has an interactive element that will stop the lock from opening if someone is unaware of it and its location inside the lock.
