Same, I’m a big knife guy so getting gravity knife action while being able pick locks at the same time makes it loads of fun.

Great review, Jim. You covered it very well. Good points you made. I have had criticism comparing it to jackknives, which there is none. It is simply a fidget toy with a pick tip. I agree it is something that would attract new pickers. Thanks for this video.👍🦊

@@dascue777 I’ve been carrying mine around too, but more to play with than to pick with. The genesis profiles will get you into most locks, the single tensioner is the biggest issue keeping me from making it an edc tool. I just can’t give up the 4 tok tools in the companion or slim pickings

It's definitely up there on the cool/fun factor. Hopefully they can lower the price once they've recouped the R&D costs, which were likely pretty high. Regardless, it would definitely be a great stocking stuffer from the rare spouse that has any interest in supporting his/her partner's hobbies 😃

I think it's the coolest rake I got and you're right the balanced feels so good. I just want to get three more so I could have each profile and not have to worry about switching it out. I wish it came with its own specialized case. That you can hook to your belt Because a few times just sticking it in my pocket I almost lost it. But the box is cool and I do keep it in there. When it's not on my person.

@@WtfLockPicking I’m not a balisong guy but they told me they’ve worked really hard to get the weight right on the momentum for that very reason. I’ve played with the prototypes and they were fun to flip but I’m definitely not the guy to see the really cool flips and tricks with.

Thanks a lot for the honest review. I see the videos of all of the fanboys bandwagoning things, but come here for the honest truth. Did they mention anything about other profiles being available? Like the reaper set?

@@Jcox1 that was one of the first things I asked about as I think a hybrid pick would be a good option for since swapping picks isn’t as easy as with things like the riv or rizz pick. They told me they planned to in the future but didn’t give me any time frame on that.

@ totally agree. If they came out with profile 1 or 2 I would be down to buy one. It would be awesome if the tension tool also had the design from the reaper set. I guess I’m just tired of the Genesis profiles. 😂

The concept is really fun, and it definitely looks cool, but it's not something I’d personally want. If it's going in my pocket, I need it to be highly functional. So, it’s a hard pass for me. That said, I do think it's a great product line for marketing covert instruments tools and expanding reach to a new customer base. The video ads that could be made from this would be awesome and could attract people who wouldn't normally be interested in lock picking. I also wonder if they've hit a point of market saturation and are using this product line to tap into a new consumer demographic. Knowing lock picking is super niche . Might not have many customers .

@@TheLockWhispererI don’t think there’s any short supply of new pickers. Having been around a while it’s far more common to see new pickers than one’s who are still around for multiple years. I do think it’s a neat concept to attract people to the hobby who may never have considered it before but it’s also not something that will attract the more serious pickers who already have what they need.
