Great overview. I think Trek are missing a trick not fitting a throttle though.

Thanks for a such a great video on this bike. But I'm confused why this bike so expensive? Non electric version of this bike is $750. No way that a 250 watt hub motor and a very simple controller + small battery can account for $2000 extra dollars. Aventon Soltera .2 weighs exactly the same, has shimano components, has a 350 watt motor (that's 100 watts more) has a bigger battery that is still entirely concealed in the frame, has a torque sensor, and has almost double the torque power Nm than. the Trek. Oh and also has a removable battery. And it has built in headlight, brake light, turn signals. App for tracking bike and voltage/mileage, etc. For $1200 out the door. ?? $50 to add rear rack. Trek I love you, but come on. I'd buy this bike in a second if the price was dropped by $800

What about the combo version, the 6000c? Is there a disadvantage to the combo? Can you get an alarm on the 6000c?

I would love this to travel with the dogs. Wish it was a three wheel like the Butcher & Bicycle, I would feel safer with the stability of a three wheel bike. Otherwise it looks excellent. How does it do on steep hills?

Good clean video. Great information. Professional presentation. Appreciated. Q: why is it that the only color is grey in the most expensive option? And the cheaper models have more color choices!? Want an R14 but wish it came in school bus yellow, or dragon fruit, or even the light blue color would be sweet. Any new color variants coming out for future GSD R14’s?

Thank you for posting this. I bought a bike today and it was the first step through I’ve ever owned. As a 60-year-old man I was worried about buying what we used to label as a sissy bike. But I’ve heard from several people that steps through are common these days for men in any physical condition, and I feel even better about my purchase of a step through now having watched your video. It was both informative and entertaining. Thank you very much.

Will be making a trip there when time permits … but I’m not a fan of these locks , even though the alarm IS a good feature to have on it ( I already have 2 alarms on my Ariel Grizzly… ) and the litelok u lock , I do want a second lock , Something that can go around the front wheel and the frame … My problem with these locks is the videos I’ve seen where they test different locks these appear to easily be cut at the rivets

I know this is an older video, still applicable. Have a new Tern HSD eBike. U/D lock is just not going to make it since most times can't get close enough to stationary item to lock it up. My town has very few bike racks to chain to. I need the chain option, however heavy it is, to go around larger objects. Looked at the 1275, just wish it was a little longer. I will have have multiple locks on my ebike. Thanks for the the info.

Only in the west that I heard women and men’s bicycles. If it really makes sense to segregate them, why motorcycles arent? Honestly I don’t see any difference between the women’s and men’s bicycles. People explains handle bars being wider for men narrower for men, etc. but those are bullshit sciences. It’s just a marketing gimmick

@3:46 Great video review. Thank you. It looks like you lowered the dropper post to stop, enabling you to stay in seat and balance your load. Then when underway, you popped it back up to give you the right leg extension. Is the dropper post a remote version with handlebar actuation? Important feature especially if the seatpost angle/crank position isn't Dutch style to allow foot down at stop AND full extension.

If you are an older verticality challenged female, 50 pounds + 115 pounds of rider = 165 pounds not bad at all. Thank you for reviewing this bike because I rode every e bike I could find locally and this was hands down my favorite, because it behaves like a bicycle not a motorcycle. I have an M endorsement and have nothing against a motorcycles. I was just looking for a replacement for my old Swinn Mountain bike that could also get me back to my camper van after a full day of hiking a trail. Being over 60, the mountain bike really needs to be someone else's problem. The problem with the mountain bike is I forget i am not an indestructible teenager anymore... I seem to be from a long living gene pool so I am thinking ahead and at say 90, I may actually be happy to have this e bike. It is encouraging that you use these in your rental fleet. Thank you for posting your review on KZbin. PS Detroit is on my bucket list for must see and explore urban areas.

I rode one today and loved it. I like that it is light weight and I would be able to lift it and hang it in the garage like my 1990's mountain bike that is only 5 pounds lighter. I think it's a really good balanced bike. I also didn't know it had an app for your phone that you can use to see your MPH and all of the other information.

This is interesting and in my research I seen other E-bikes that have single speed or iIGH of 3,5 or speeds. Of course they pretty much have to be mid range hubs. I seen one or two with belts. Any I have several bikes mostly Schwinns. My wife has an old Electra 3 speed special edition Karma cruiser. Got it at garage sale for $10. All it needed was a inner tube and adjust the 3 speed that was only going into nay 2 of the dears. She loves the bike but I wish it had a front break like my other 3 speeds. I like the clean looks of single or multi speed IGH. I don’t care for the muti speed muti sprocket bikes even though I have a few. I have heart failure and cannot ride my bikes anymore at least very far like a block. I understand that E-bikes with their peddle assist and throttle has help people with my condition exercise without straining your too much and improve your heart. There is so many choices of E-bikes I am not sure what to get. I have a mobility scooter that gets me out and about town but I miss riding bicycles. Thanks for the info great video.

Had that lock for a while now. Don't feel super confident using it though. What every single review forgets to mention is how easy (covered by a piece of flopy rubber) is to remove the battery and voila alarm is disabled and then you are only left with a product that is way easier to cut than a solid U-lock

Hi there. Former Detroiter here (I lived at Agnes and McClellan) - I now live in Oregon. Just lost an Allant+ 7S to theft and, at the recommendation of the local Trek dealership, I will be getting a Verve+ 4. So, I am trying to research what I am getting myself into. Thanks for the information. Best to Detroit!

@tommwarneke396 I did buy it. In fact my wife and I each got one. It is a high quality Trek product and very fun to ride. We usually ride rail trails which are relatively flat and mostly do not use any electric assist. It is light enough to use without assit on relativity flat ground. The electric assist is way more than enough for how we ride and the one 30 mile ride where we did use some assist used only about 20% battery. We barely had to gp above the 1st of the three electric assist settings. So for us, it is a great bike.

The geometry is quite different from treks road bikes, domanes or emondas. The frame may look similar but the top tube is longer, so if you add drop bars on a trek fx frame, you have to reach out too much to ride drop, destroying your back even more lol
