Prequels are the best star wars films for sure. Originals are real fun, and have the nostalgia, with very likeable characters and an easy to follow yet deeply creative story, though are extremely lineal in nature until ROTJ, and significantly lack a sense of population in the universe, making them slightly less immersive fantasies and more like fun sci fi flicks. They also lack emotional weight, with only the reveal of darth vaders relation to our protagonists carrying deep sentiment with our characters - all other plot lines that should involve deep emotional reflection, such as the destruction of Leia’a home world Alderaan, are missing. Its worth noting however that the originals were most limited in budget and resources, so it could be argued that they did the best with what they had available. Sequels have their moments and utilise cgi and graphics the best, they also introduce a couple of loveable new characters, but unfortunately damage alot of the foundations of the star wars we’ve come to know, making the heroics of old characters feel worthless, leaving the emotions in the new stories hard to get behind, as you’re left expecting these heroics to also be for nothing 10 years down the line. The story also lacks creativity and repeats alot of the themes explored in past films. I feel the sequels would hold much stronger as a stand alone trilogy, rather than something connected to the past. Another drawback is the, to be expected in the modern age, woke dialogue implemented here and there by disney, which is a disservice to the intelligence of the audience watching. But the prequels world building, story telling, pacing and emotion is so far and away superior. You really feel that you’re in the star wars universe, the politics are indepth and fascinating, the settings are rich and diverse, and the mantra of the jedi is well explored and experienced as the bed rock of the triology. The characters are loveable, but in a different way to the other trilogies - where in the originals you get a sense that the protagonists could be friends you’re on an epic adventure with, the prequel characters feel like deep historical figures that hold alot of weight and value in relation to the now immersive universe you find yourself in - qui gon jinn being this insightful yet mystical elder, the pairing of yoda and mace windu representing the chief wisdom and power of the jedi, politicians such as padme and palpatine portraying the loyalty and power struggle present in the galaxy. Obi-Wan is the perfect lead protagonist we follow throughout, being the relatable hero that wants to do what is right but occasionally having doubts, Anakin representing the internal conflict amidst absolute potential yet emotional deficiency, and ofcourse R2D2 and C3PO breaking the tension in perfect doses - the different things these characters represent allows for a diverse displaying of emotion and experience. I also find the pace that the prequels run to be hands down the best, though i know some complain about the love scenes in AOTC being longed out, bar this, the way George Lucas balances the jumping between scenes and worlds - with a more lineal approach in episode 01, and cut scene approach in episodes 02 and 03, was so well executed, with the musical score being the icing on the cake to really transcribe the emotion on display. The only things shaky are some of the acting/dialogue, but thats the case in every iteration of star wars, overall it aint bad and theres still some really stand out moments. Also some of the cgi, specifically in phantom menace during the gungan battle doesnt hold up well now, but it’s so brief you can easily look past it. And in terms of action, specifically light saber battles, the best ones are found in the prequels, with obi-wan and anakins battle on mustafar taking 1st prize. Films are, to an extent, a product of their time, and it just so happens that mid 80s - mid 00s was far and away the best era for film, rendering the prequels the better made of all the films.

You gotta give the creator so much more credit, you figure they just took a ton of John Williams pieces, used some overlay footage and called it a day but they really conveyed a progression throughout the audio and you can tell they put a lot of effort construction the retelling of the story, at points it actually gave me goosebumps to imagine Anikan transformed into Darth Vader left with the punishment of reflecting on these horrible memories, great job, you did amazing
