He can Looney Toons-max his way to a win against one dimensional strikers cuz of his sheer endurance, but against Chimaev you actually need to be able to sprawl and protect yourself from submissions. Usman and Whittaker are far above DDP in those skills, and they still lost. Being tough doesn't work when you're getting choked out.

I think Khamzats biggest weakness is because he submits most fights within 1 round you dont really get challenged. You dont get to grow because you rely on one skill to get the job done. I think the hype around him is way to big and that will be his undoing. Maybe I am wrong who knows.

I watched ufc from the early days where guys fought in gis. That thing took a long time and the reality show blew it up, this has that same potential but it’s too money heavy. The marketing isn’t selling its gimic too. It will burn out. Stars people don’t see as the best anymore . They should just be doing a “who has the best fighters” angle and incubate talent in their league.

I remember when Brunson tried wrestling DDP. The commentary team was talking about how Brunson was in his element, but after a few minutes he was completed gassed. DDP punished him every time they got up. And this was pre-nose surgery Dricus. I can definitely see Khamzat going crazy and gassing out if he doesn’t finish DDP early.

I think Khamzat became a professional in the camp for Whittaker, and then he literally crushed the face of one of the all-time greats in the first round. I think the trouble with Burns and Usman took him to the next level. He knows DDP is the real deal, the hardest challenge he has ever faced. I think he comes in prepared and calm and follows a solid gameplan and wins like a professional. His wildness and early domination was a weakness, an excuse to not train like a professional or follow a gameplan. He has faced enough adversity in the cage to know that can't work at the highest level. He's a father too and his son had health issues, he's a grown man now, not a wild child. We're getting a battle between two grown-ass men, it's cool. I expect Khamzat to win, but DDP has surprised us already so I'd be cool with that.

I think the wrestling will be a major deciding factor in this fight. DDP hasn't fought a lot of wrestlers. The one good wrestler he fought, Brunson, took him down easily and controlled him. Khamzat will definitely be able to get him down and keep him there.

Burns also went to his back a lot. Chimaev likes to get the back and go for the RNC that's basicly all he does. We don't see him use many other submission on a high level fighter (Kevin Holland doesn't count as one even if he brings a 45-70) I don't see Chimaev subbing DDP if Dricus goes to his back and locks Chimaev in his guard or something.
