Hello! The max RPM on the 400 Amp Rotary Ground is 2000 RPM and the 800 Amp Rotary Ground is 1200 RPM. If your application requires higher RPM, feel free to contact us about our custom rotary grounds!

Cool video - I’ve seen this happen with automated weld positioners that didn’t have the ROTOCONs retrofitted onto them. After the retrofit, the rework on the welded parts decreased significantly. I would definitely recommend the ROTOCON ground clamps. Keep making great products Meridian!

1.shouldn't be welding while pulling leads 2. any rotating device with a load especially 500A will fluctuate slightly the best brushes will still fluctuate 1-3% 3. the welds are made with different processes (left is 6013 stick, and right is 309 filler tig'd any ad that mixes this much content is trying to cover for over priced garbage.

Thanks for your interest exewelder! 1) True, with typical welding using a cable reel, one would not weld while pulling leads. Conventional rotary ground clamps may work in applications which are not often or continuously rotating, however it comes with a major drawback for applications which rely on continuous rotation or do rotate frequently. Aside from constantly having to refill the grease container and adjusting the pressure which the stationary band has around the rotating stud - this style of rotary ground clamp has a fluctuating range of electrical contact resistance, dependent on the number of total revolutions, rotational speed, user adjustment, and maintenance. As you know from the video and our website, many applications do require welding while under continuous rotation. Applications that use rotational welding are common with Tank Welding, Pipe Welding, Plating Lines, Plasma Cutting, and many other industrial manufacturing types of operation. There are many great examples where a solution relies on steady and consistent flow: “ROTOCON Ground Clamps Provide Quick ROI for Rotary Tank Welding Applications” and “A Better Ground Clamp Solution: Switching to ROTOCON Rotary Ground Clamp Increases Productivity by 250%” www.meridianlab.com/case-studies/350/ www.meridianlab.com/case-studies/rotocon-case-study-power-equipment-manufacturing/ 2) Correct, a typical brush slip ring will fluctuate a LOT. Fortunately, our device doesn’t have brushes. In the video you’ll notice the conventional rotary ground clamp varies around 12% while our ROTOCON solution is at 0.18%. From its unique design, all ROTOCON rotary ground clamps exhibit low and consistently stable electrical contact resistance - regardless of RPM, total revolutions, or temperature. Even after hours of rotation, the amperage stays consistently at approximately 500A with very little fluctuation. Industry leaders (Emerson Climate Technologies, Lincoln Electric, NTN Bower, Copeland, Tyco, etc.) all understand that the lower and more stable the contact resistance of a system is - the more consistent and stable current delivery you will see and better results you will have from it. 3) Firstly, as our fantastic customers can attest (www.meridianlab.com/rotocon-rotating-electrical-connectors/testimonials-rotocon/ ), we don’t make garbage 😊. Secondly, good eye, that visual is used as an example to illustrate different needs and results. ROTOCON is needed for consistent and stable current delivery in industrial / production environments. ROTOCON provides a more consistent process, improved results, and a lower margin of error. Depending on the current draw and amount of usage, a MC-Series rotary ground clamp (www.meridianlab.com/products/rotoconproduct-seriesmc-single-contact-high-current/ ) can occasionally be paid for simply by the energy savings which it provides for an application, but most often we see the payoff happen from the amount of decreased downtime, and from achieving less defective and more consistent end-products. Please check out some of our case studies for examples of when a perfect weld was needed. Thanks again for your interest!
