@@markcarter4504 I cover all my pineapple plants when temps go below 50 degrees . They don’t like cold temps. They will probably be ok, but the colder temps (40’s) can stunt the growth. Freezing temps (mid-low 30’s) can kill them.

@@twissol2494 I haven’t tried fresh coffee grounds. Unused/fresh coffee grounds are more acidic. For pineapple plants, I would think that would still be ok. For other plants, it might be too much for them. I would just make sure you mix the coffee grounds as best as you can in with the dirt and maybe use less to start with. @planepineapplelife
@planepineapplelife 3 ай бұрын
@@monicawillis3289 Hi! Good question. In Florida, our winter temps never really get below 26-30 degrees Fahrenheit and that is very seldom. Where I live, it gets around 34-55 at night during the winter months. I’m guessing in your zone it can get as low as 0. Frost blankets, and sheets do help keep warmth in and frost off the plants…but you will have to make sure they completely cover the plant to the ground. I honestly would move my plants under a covered area (since you mentioned they are in pots) or even closed in area (garage/sun room) or indoors during the harsh winter months. I move a lot my plants that are in pots to my covered patio, all while still covering them with blankets when it’s below 50 (especially my sugarloafs that are very delicate). So to answer your question….you can cover them with sheets, but if it gets extremely cold, there’s a chance it might stunted the plants growth or worst case, they might not survive. 🍍🍍

Greetings do you have any white jade pineapples? I bought a white jade and a sugarloaf 11 months ago. Both were tiny tissue culture plugs which I believe were originally sourced from Agristarts. The sugarloaf is doing great -- big and robust with a nice red blush to the leaves. The leaves are 24+ inches and stiff the way you would expect a pineapple to be and there are lots of them. The white jade is another story. It has maybe a dozen leaves, the longest of which i only about 8 inches long and much softer than any pineapple I have seen. Both plants are in 5 gallon buckets with the same mix of coconut coir and cow manure with some perlite for drainage and a little peat for acidity. And they both get the same amount of sunlight and water and fertilizer since they are right next to each other. Any idea why the white jade would be so much smaller than the sugarloaf? thanx --Phil

Don’t need any root system you can literally rip them off and plant them in the ground. You don’t need to propagate them in a cup of water. I mean, pineapple plants are literally the most hardy plants I’ve ever seen in my life. I ripped one up out of the ground and threw it in the corner of my fence so my dog wouldn’t, try to get the neighbors dogs and like eight months later the plant was mostly dried and crispy and I picked it up and it had like 2 foot long roots borrowing themselves into the ground. This thing just grew roots and tried to borrow those roots into the ground.

Additionally, could I bring it indoors? I assume so, but im concerned about it getting enough light because the home owner lives on property and doesnt loke lights on nor the blinds open 😶 If i bring it inside, should I set up a grow light situation in the garage? Where i live it dips to the 50s at night. Sometimes more sometimes less. During tbe day if youre in the sun, you are warm AF. Thanks so much if you reply! PS mine is in a pot, its not too heavy yet, I had moved it inside and since it got mote angry. I gave her plant food but it was a little more concentrated since I didnt have plants to split it with. I had been watering too much as well, which makes sense why she was more angry in the cold at night. Additionally, do you have videos on repotting? When i am stationary it will go in tbe ground. But not right now. I just eanna make sure im not stinting growth. Last, this is my fourth sprout. I know it takes some years (2-3) to see fruit depending on growth. That being said... Hi, Thanks for watching my videos! I only cover the plants when temps drop at or below 50. In central Florida we can get temps that drop in the 20-30’s overnight, not for long thankfully. I keep them covered for days if the temps are still low. If the high for the day is only going to 55, I keep them covered (mainly because I have so many and it takes a lot to all of them, just to recover again). I found with so many plants, I wasn’t taking care of them the way I did when I had under 30 plants. I reached 140 plants and decided I needed to cut back. Fertilize every 4-8 weeks with plant food high in nitrogen (azalea/tomato). Water only 1x every week or 2. If it rains, just make sure your pot has holes for drainage. I grow both in the ground and pots. You can move your pots indoors, but like you said, it’s not getting natural sunlight and it could take longer to grow. Make sure your pot isn’t too small… I usually say, the larger the pot…the larger the fruit. I like 14” to 22”. If you do need to move it around, go with 14-18”, I wouldn’t go smaller than 12”. I believe I have videos on repotting. Just go under playlist and you can pick from my pineapple videos and airplane videos, makes it easier to see what I have without going through everything. Good luck with your plant! 🍍 P.S I have seen crown tops not survive with no fault of the person growing them. Some farmers drill holes in them to stop from propagating. If that ever happens, buy your fruit from another place. 🍍

Hi! Thanks for watching my video! Pineapple plants can go without water for sometime….2 weeks. I try and water mine at least 1x every 10-14 days, if no rain. Remember they are a bromeliad and hold water in their leaves and self water themselves. As for what kind of water, I honestly don’t have a answer. I just use water from my hose/tap. I’m sure any bottle water is fine. I would say spring water is better, as it it naturally filtered where purified goes through a treatment process. Spring water still has natural minerals in it.
