WHEN SHOULD YOU REPOT YOUR PINEAPPLE PLANT?

Thank you! I have been noticing my plants growing very slow this past year…but I also have been busy and not fertilizing them enough/at all this year. I just bought more fertilizer and plan to start feeding them again every month.

I use miracle grow for azalea. It is high in nitrogen, which pineapples love!

What brand of potting soil do you use?

I have actually used many different brands of potting soil…I usually buy my soil at Home Depot. I have used Miracle grow, but frankly it’s expensive. I have been using organic soil lately…potting, container/raised beds, etc. I find that if the soil has good drainage and you fertilize…your plant will do great! 🍍

Can you take the top part of the plant, and root it like the crown?

I have never tried. I don’t believe so, if I’m understanding you correctly. I always use the crown, slip or a sucker for starter plants. You can also you seeds…but it takes much longer.

You can! Root in water as soon as you take top off. Plant in 50/50 (soil/cactus soil) you don’t want the soil “soggy”. I hope this helps

How large are the containers you use?

I have used all different sizes, but I like 18-22 inch pots. My 5-7 pound pineapples were grown in 20-22” pots.

@@planepineapplelife I have 3 pineapples in a 5 gallon containers and 2 of them already have fruit but since they haven’t finished growing, I’m not sure if I should use bigger containers for the next 4 I want to transplant soon. When you say 18-22, do you mean the diameter? If so, is that the only thing you measure or do you also measure the height of the container?

I have some smaller pots growing pineapples, they usually give me 2-4 pound fruit. I believe my smallest pots are equal to 5 gallon size. For reference of size: inches to gallons. Hope this helps. 🍍 10” pot= 3 gallon 12” pot= 5 gallon 14” pot= 7 gallon 16” pot= 10 gallon 18” pot= 15 gallon 21” pot= 20 gallon 24” pot= 25 gallon
