This scene encapsulates everything I love about Maximus. The drum beats and the johhny cash that plays for him, the music almost as if its a calling, he gets beat but he always gets back up and displays true grit. I hesitate to say this, but him being a negro man, and yes I'm using that word intentionally, adds a lot to it for me thematically with the music, because rock n roll and the blues originated from black culture and so, for Maximus to pick up some gritty junkyard crap in order to kick some ass after he just got beat down, with this music, and being indoctrinated by the bos, just makes me think of like, the grit of slaves and railroad workers in the 16th century waking up every single day and playing the shitty hand they've been dealt unrelenting and with a smile on their face. Maximus is the epitome of the phrase "soldier boy". He plays the true game of the road.

The one thing that gets men this scene is the kid he says hed give tomatoes to was hit in the chest as an entry wound,but in th next scene the entry wound is in the guys neck instead
