I remember going for 3 test drives in the Evora. First one, the car would not start. Second one, the passenger window stuck halfway down, and it was raining, so we could not take the car out. The third one had some sort of a water leak in tha cabin and it smelled like a swamp, so we had to drive with the windows down. All 3 different cars about 6 months apart, but at least I got one to run. That car had so many gremlins to list. Bought a cayman instead.

It's working great. If it's splashing you can try routing the hose differently with a loop or add a piece of tape after filling, since the factory vent is sufficient when not filling, then yank the tape off when you fill for fast filling.

I daily drive and autocross on my 225/45r15 RT660s, they have been great. But tire pressure is what I'm always fighting with. I've seen people suggest low in the 25-28 range like you have, but doing so causes way to much roll over for me. I'm always having to push them to 36-40 psi to really get the most out of them. I've got about 5k miles on them and 6 autocross events and they will probably hold out for another 2k at most.
@ruggedbadgerracing

Good point about pressures. Autocross will be a completely different application versus sprint racing or endurance racing. The course usually won't be rubbered in, its slower speed, and the temperature buildup and soak is very different.

From what I've heard, the 08's are not a good choice for our type of racing on the lighter cars like the Miata. I know we couldn't use the 11's on our E36 but that may be a good fit for you. Hope so. Good luck! Also witrh those bolts coming loose, wondering if you've tried the Nord-Lock washers.

With the bracket mounting points in the same location, isn’t the leverage (f/r) exerted on the chassis still the same? I’m not an aero expert, but it seems like regardless of the longitudinal placement of the wing, the downforce is primarily perpendicular to the chassis at the bracket location. In order to change the leverage with respect to the axle, the mounting point would need to change, not the wing location… I could be missing something, though. 😊 Thanks for the video, I really enjoy this series.
@ruggedbadgerracing
@ruggedbadgerracing 3 ай бұрын
The mount is static with the chassis, so the load location is all that matters not the mounting location. As an example, put your arm out straight to the side, then bend your elbow so your hand is next to your head. Then press on down on your hand, you can feel the load balanced with your body. Now press on your elbow, you can see that that force is more destabilizing wanting to have you lean that direction.
@AverageJoesracingteam

@@ruggedbadgerracinghey roy, I'm curious about this ideology. I want to grab a 10 lb weight when I get a chance to hold the weight with a bent elbow at 90° and then a bent elbow where my hand would be closer to my head. I want to see what the difference is. I'm sure there's actually another means of checking this out
@ruggedbadgerracing
@ruggedbadgerracing 2 ай бұрын
@@AverageJoesracingteam I am trying to find a simpler way to explain it. Since the uprights are bolted to the body and wing and they don't move, the effect of the wing is always relative to the wing location, the upright location is irrelevant to the force exerted on the front and rear of the car. There are some center of mass youtube videos that explain this, but I can't include photos and stuff on the chat.
@chestrockwell8328
@chestrockwell8328 2 ай бұрын
You are thinking correctly here. The wing is mounted to the same location, and now the down force (in theory) will be greater than the previous wing location putting more weight/force on the mounts and causing even more lifting of the front and therefore less balance. The mount point needs to change as well. For a visual, lets say a 200 pound guy was standing on the rear bumper with the previous wing location, now a 350 pound dude is standing there.

For us, 660 is minimum 3-4 seconds faster than 615k, and then slightly more faster than the RS4. RS4 lasts 2 lemons races plus practice day before heat cycling out but good for additional practices, 615K about equal, trading wear and heat cycle capacity. 660 is 1 race and next practice day. 3500lbs, maybe 300Hp, 245 to 265 wide, even tried 315, tip of spear laptime capability car for lemons. 660s grease up hot, they don't tolerate being overdriven, and takes a couple laps to cool for us. Keep that slip angle in check and alignment and they're fine for endurance. Brass tacks is running 660's doubles the tire budget, so if 3 seconds a lap is worth that to you, spend away.

Hey Roy, I went to the Firm ( a localish tight 1.6 .mile track) yesterday on some old used rt660 leftover from Road Atlanta or older. If they were from Road Atlana , they had about 13 hrs on them. I used them for practice yesterday because they had lots of rubber left, but were very blue(oils coming out?) Cold, i ran them as they were starting at 24 front and 25 rear. After about 7 laps, they were up to 30 on the passenger side and 31 on the driver side . I dropped them a couple more lb to see how they felt . The slightly lower pressure allowed me to be more consistent, although my fastest laps were the 3rd, 4th and 5th laps before lowering the pressures. Btw, my times yesterday were the fastest ever in the car and more consistent than even. So im very happy about that. I was considered about the tires getting a little greasy after about 7 laps, but its a right, short track with little time to disipate the heat and it was 90 degrees out

I suspect you'll want the pinch welds to be 4.25" or so off the ground (ish). Several swapped miatas in my area seem to level out around there. We run 1000lb front and 500lb rear springs or in that ballpark. I'm sure you know the rake has a huge impact on braking stability, i usually run 1/4" higher but obviously your aero situation may change that. Also your rear wing is in a position that drastically moves grip forward as you've removed all of its "leverage" it would normally use to put pressure on the rear of the car. Your logic is sound though imo due to the front aero regulations. It may be worthwhile to test it with the wing in a more standard position. Mine is hung as far off the back of the car as possible. I have a more or less complete supercharger setup for sale as i decided to leave my power level where I'm at due to classing. Great video as always btw, cheers.

We have the spec miata rear penske's if I get the opportunity to run Gridlife again I will definitely go Penskes all around and go back to the setup I used to run on our old car, maybe I will even get adjustable shocks.
