Can this be used without having the Ubiquiti UniFi 6 Lite Access Points ? Is it compatible with fiber internet and cable internet?
@HomeTechDIY10 күн бұрын
Yes, it can be used as a stand alone device. Yes, the type of Internet service provider is irrelevant.

After doing this rtsp firmware flash, does the app work any different? Will everything still be as normal in the app?
@HomeTechDIY16 күн бұрын
The may be some differences in the app. The firmware is a little old and newer features may not be supported or may function a little differently. If I recall correctly, they were minor and worth the switch.

G'dayI have noticed that my 5MP cameras use more data storage than my 8MP units. I suspect the frame rate to be the reason for more/less data.
@HomeTechDIY16 күн бұрын
Hi! Yes, that is correct and it could also be the bit rate and/or the resolution.

Hey home tech, i need some help. I have a kit of 6 Laview poe camereas. Ive had them for 5 years with no issues. Due to the constant power outages recently in Houston tx because of hurricane beryl, my nvr reset it self to: create a new password screen. I created a new password and now i cant see all my cameras. I tried to reset them to factory but no luck. Tia for any troubleshooting method.
@HomeTechDIY18 күн бұрын
Hey! Is it possible to change the password on the NVR back to the original password? The NVR most likely uses the same password to activate each camera. Also, some NVRs have a separate password for the cameras, and that password is set within the NVR. Maybe have a look to see if there is an NVR password and an NVR camera activation password.

G'day, I recently relocater my Duo2. I had to put the mounting plate at an anglebecause there is no adjustment once you set "X&Y" axis. I have floodlights on all night with great lighting out to about 20m. depending on if the streetlights are working as to how well it can pick up people at over 75m I also have an 823 that can see all of the same area if I pan/tilt it around. The 823 lets me get up close to events as they happen on the street. The combination is great for watching thing live and then being able to replay.

@@HomeTechDIY The Police keep telling me I have great cameras, even hough most are only the 5MP type. I'm just lucky to live in an action packed area. I'de love to get another NVR and a back up power supply, also need a lot more storage as well as more zoom cameras. The list just keeps growing.

Connecting an entire system and router would not last long enough for repair crew to get power restored. I'm guessing all criminals would know this. Looks like plan B is going to be the better option for home security, 9mm. 😕

Can you do this with a computer?
@HomeTechDIY24 күн бұрын
The initial setup needs to be done through a monitor connected to the NVR, but once it's up and running, a PC using the Reolink app works great.

I have an external eSATA 4tb hdd that I installed to my NVR but it only shows 1tb. Any idea why? Do I need to format to NTFS or Fat 32?
@HomeTechDIYАй бұрын
I assume your NVR is compatible with an eSata HDD and you are within the total supported capacity: support.reolink.com/hc/en-us/articles/900004550003-How-Many-HDDs-Can-I-Connect-with-Reolink-NVR-System/ I would try to fix it in this order. 1. Format the HDD using the NVR's operating system, like I do at 3:30. 2. If that doesn't work, format the drive from a computer using FAT32 (quick method). FAT32 is used by USB flash drives in the NVR, so I am assuming it's the same for a HDD. Make sure the computer is showing 4TB free. Connect the HDD to the NVR and see if you have the numbers you are expecting. If not, try formatting it again using the NVR's operating system. 3. Same as above but try the full format. 4. Same as #2 and #3 but try NTFS. Hope this helps!

@@HomeTechDIY Yes, nvr can do up to 8tbb on an external eSATA. I'll give this a try. Thank you

Please how does the two uplink port function? Bonding or failover
@HomeTechDIYАй бұрын
I'm not 100% sure, but the 2 ports support gigabit speeds (the other ports are only 100) and have visibility into the 8 main ports when isolation is on. I have mine connected to another switch using the uplink port. Not sure if that helps.

Does this only work with mesh UniFi networks or could it work with the standard unifi access points? I just noticed this was like six months ago. Has there ever been any changes or updates or improvements or something you would do different now?
@HomeTechDIYАй бұрын
Great questions! I believe it would work with the standard access points. The only change I would consider in Ubiquiti's new outdoor access point that supports WiFi 6. I bought one for a security camera that supports WiFi 6. My only concern with that access point is that it doesn't seem water tight. I still need to figure out how to install it and seal it outside. In any case, here is where I feature it: kzbin.info/www/bejne/ZoTSln5roNJom68

@masonmartinez2276Ай бұрын
So I did that very last hack you did with the 8channel and it worked but not sure why I can see the old recording off the original hard drive. Any solution for that?
@HomeTechDIYАй бұрын
In the last hack, the original HDD is still attached. Any footage on this drive will show in combination with any footage on the new drive. To remove all the footage from the first drive, try formatting it. Let me know if that helps.

Hi there, how did you route your wiring out of the casing for your external drive? Did you have to cut a hole in the casing? Thanks
@HomeTechDIY25 күн бұрын
@@jeffjeffjeff2 I didn't complete a permanent solution, but yes, cutting the case would be an option. If you are comfortable with wiring, you might be able to remove the adapter and feed the wires through an unused hole on the back and then reconnect the adapter.

@HomeTechDIYАй бұрын
Not really. I still have about 6 that I use actively and about 8 on my shelf. I haven't picked up any new ones recently and they have lost popularity since I first started reviewing them. They also aren't as easily available as they use to be. The biggest factor could be time. I have a dozen ideas for Hikvision videos, but it's difficult to find time to put them together, especially in the summer. Great question by the way!

So lets say camera is plugged off or not connected to internet. Then it wont record right?
@HomeTechDIY2 ай бұрын
I'm not sure what 'plugged off' means, but the camera actually connects to WiFi on your local network and not the Internet directly. The local network is connected to the Internet. If there Internet connection is off, the camera will use RTSP on the local network and continue to stream to any device on the network. So, if there is no Internet, the camera will still record to an NVR or stream. If the camera is not connected to WiFi, then no other devices on the network will pick up the stream. If the camera has a micro-SD card, it doesn't need a WiFi connection to record footage. Hope this helps.

Does anyone know how I can create more Patterns? My NVR/PTZ Cam has only given me 1. Pattern option, but in the “Preset Column” it clearly states Call 1. Pattern, Call 2. Pattern, Call 3. Pattern… and so on. Up to 6 Calls. I just would like to have the option of having more than 1 pattern at a time to call on. If I want more than one, I would have to go to the “Pattern Column” and erase and create a new one. ? ? ?

If you fill the hard drive does it prompt you? Does it overwrite old data and start anew?
@HomeTechDIY2 ай бұрын
No, it doesn't prompt you. The NVR will automatically delete the oldest footage file by file and create room for new footage as required. It's like a rolling timeline. If the drive is full, it will delete 1-2 old files to make room for the new one. Once it's full again (an hour or so later), it will delete the oldest 1-2 again and write the new.

I am not sure what area you are in for Amazon. I shop inventory in the amazon.com and .ca regions. There aren't really many options since it's older technology. This is the 4TB Fantom with the eSata cable included and is just over 200: amzn.to/4azGxgZ I have not tested this, but maybe an eSata docking station would work. You would just need to bring your own HDD. I think you can get cheap ones, but here is one that is about $100: amzn.to/3KdIaWX

One question, the cable that you connected from the external HDD esata to the esata input of the NVR is included or is it purchased separately. I should order the one that only has a USB input but does not have an esata input and I will return it. I will order the one that has a USB input and esata input because the information says that it comes with a usb cable included, thank you
