good but misleading perspective. project was unfinished, mistaken, then demolished and redone at least twice not just with the antonine centre but before that at every point architectural heritage people have said it's an asset. we're at the point now where there just isn't enough to fawn over any more. it's like changing all the parts of a porsche and saying don't touch the novelty gear stick it's such an asset!.. it's about time the people of cumbernauld get attention of NLC after being passed around stirling, dunbartonshire glasgow

To say the penthouses 'did not work' is untrue. They were no good for families with children as there was no outside space, apart from the roof, but they were ideal for young people working in the area. Although they were expensive so you had to have a well paid job to afford to live in them. The interior design was remarkable - it was a time capsule of the 60s with open tread wood staircases, wooden ceilings and some wooden walls.

People think Cumbernauld failed. It didn’t really. It housed people from the slum tenements of town centre when the town was getting torn down when motorways were getting built. Cumbernauld had indoor toilets and houses that weren’t mouse infested.

@@smoll.miniatures not true. I couldn’t buy a shirt from it in pre internet days. And it was a mess well before me austerity. It’s a horrible building, with rubbish shops. shocking the council just demolish these flats in glasgow rather than retro fitting them, but of course back handers and other council cons makes sure that dont happen. Wait, what? you want a view and a unique viewpoint of your own city? na , you need money for that, go live glasgow harbour 1500 a month, your a council peasent, you will be ground and road level only. i still live in high flats, and used to live in the red rd. The view point you get of the city is unique and disgrace they are turning that into an elite thing.

My goodness professor- assuming you don’t live here, it’s fine for you to advocate for its regeneration while you jump in your car and head home , no doubt to a leafy suburb. Let’s take lots of pictures and knock it down. Cumbernauld has grown and developed and deserves a better civic space

You are being rallied to accept this invitation to accept this golden opportunity to extend your reach into the hearts of residents of Dalmarnock both past and present. I urge you to prove your worth by setting the example to your fellow office bearers as to how you believe prospective constituents should be treated. Step out in faith by putting your money where your mouth is. Set your agenda to include viable strategies for the purposes of giving greater increase to the life chances of others. In the interests of serving the greater good this will assist the people of Dalmarnock to create an easily recognised nucleus to their scheme which will enable all generations to build community that will exist to provide a healing and long lasting future social legacy.
