Looking to replace my circa 2006-08 CCM Pro Tacks pants. Looked long and hard for them back then because I wanted the best hip, thigh, butt and tailbone protection. I found it both these pants, lots of hardshell plastic protection including the area that covers the cheeks of my butt. Having a difficult time finding plastic cap in a Pro Stock that acovers that area these days. Tried HP45's . There was overlapping foam but no built in molded pad. Wondering from your review if the HP35's (or 31's) have this area covered. I've gone done hard on that area of my butt so many times that you's think I would have grown callouss's!. For me, it's thatmolded pad that makes all the difference. Do the HP35's or 31's.... or HPTK's have that protected? I know the 45's do not. Thanks.

@@coachtd2163 Hey there! Yes! The HP35s have actual real plastic in them! I wanted the same thing since I had three hip surgeries. Here’s what to know about fit for pro stock CCM pants. You generally need to go up a size from Bauer. For instance, I wear a large Bauer pant and extra large CCM pant. The other thing is that CCM pants are a little shorter than Bauer. If you’re over 5’11” you might consider the +1 inch for CCM. Another pro stock pant that may work for you is the Bauer Nexus. You’d need to get those on sideline swap. That’s what I’m wearing now. I’d say both have similar features and fit.

The trade-off is the lining is so much more compact and minimal that it creates a lot more volume leftover that would have traditionally been taken up by conventional lining. @mongillohockey i own about 10 pair of skates - each of the major brands (Bauer/CCM) and models for those brands. The only way I can afford that is buying used skates at roughly 75% discount (4:1). All my other skates fit just fine with the size I am used to. Only these Hyperlites have been the exception case, which is strange they couldn't get it right. Just seems they didn't offset sizing for the reduction in lining materials they implemented to reduce weight. And I'll be honest, not sure i like them that much - feel like a hard carbon shell with no padding. Almost like a plastic skate with a heavy sock serving as the liner! 🤣

Comparing the FT5 Pro, Trigger 8 Pro, and AS6 Pro, the FT5 Pro felt like it had the best release, incorporating both quickness and shot power, as I guess you'd expect from a hybrid. Something else to consider is the shaft shape. The FT is more traditional squared off design, Trigger is concave on the forehand side (I liked this feel the best), and the Tacks bulges out at the bottom (hate the feel). The Jetspeed was the heaviest, though future versions have shed the weight. The Tacks was the lightest, which I really liked. I wouldn't say no to any of them, but my preference goes to Jetspeed. I hated it in the beginning because of weird blade feel on wristers, but I loved the missiles it can fire off with snappers.

The only two differences between the XF and XF pro is stiffness and steel. With the XF pro you get a stiffer boot and you get Step Steel black steel. People choose Bauer skates because they break in after only 10 hours and feel initially more comfortable on the ice however they don’t last near as long as CCM. Long story short I think you need additional time unless you put in more hours than I just mentioned. if you tried all of the things I said, and they still don’t work try returning them because they think CCM is actually pretty good about it. @@eliasdonchos1675 Hey there, thanks and I really appreciate the kind words! Regarding BladeTech steel, my opinion is that they are my favorite. I’ve used Step, Tydan, Bionic, Flare and a multitude of Bauer steels. There are two reasons I like BladeTech the best. First off, the spring in the toe of the steel reduces pressure off joints. That’s important to me due to hip issues. Whether or not the spring makes you faster is debatable. The second thing that I like is that the steel they use is the highest quality of the steels I’ve used. This means less sharpening and more glide. I’ll add one more bonus that I like over Step steel. The shape and height of BladeTech is almost perfect. Step is a little too tall and I have to profile a ton of metal off the toe and heel of the steel and the profile doesn’t always come out correctly. One thing I’ll note about Flare steel is that it really does feel the best on a variety of surfaces. The only thing is that none of the shops in my area can support sharpening it since they have Sparx machines and they don’t have a level tool wide enough to check the edges. Maybe your area is different. Hope that helps!

@@cjmixer99 First off I appreciate the best regards! Okay, so I know that the Hyperlite 2 has less volume than the Jetspeeds but it’s a similar design. There’s two things that can impact lace bite. The thickness of your insoles and the types of socks you’re wearing. If you’re just wearing tube socks that’s actually an issue. If you have aftermarket insoles like yellow superfeet, that’ll all cause lace bite. I recommend trying the stock insoles with thin compression socks. If you’re already doing that, purchase gel Bunga pads from Amazon. @@TheBrad605 hey there, so I think you’re saying the True skates are giving you the numb toes? It makes sense to me that the Trues are the problem because of how they’re made. If it’s the Ultrasonic, that makes less sense. If it’s the Trues, it’s likely a combination of how tight they make the skates combined with the aggressive forward pitch. Careful with this as that combo resulted in a torn big toe tendon that became a permanent issue. It’s also a known issue with True and one which they don’t publicly acknowledge. I’d be careful with this. It’s not worth the injury. Give me some more information and we can go from here.

@@mongillohockey yeah it’s the Trues. The Ultrasonics were fine. I love the feel the Trues on the ice, I get a good feel of the ice. I was thinking of trying a softer felt tongue, but not sure that is the solution. They said I should rebake them with tissue in spots to give a little more room. Just not sure where to add the tissue. The skate actually feel and fits good. Just the numb toes. The fact that it’s both feet is what’s strange or good??
@mongillohockey
@mongillohockey 5 ай бұрын
@@TheBrad605 In full transparency I obviously can’t diagnose the issue fully over KZbin, but it’s my belief that one of two things is going on. First, the boots are too short since they make boots relatively tight. The second thing that could cause the numbness is pressure on the top or instep of the foot. If it’s the latter, a thinner tongue could potentially help. If it’s not that, the boots are likely too small in the length. Keep an eye on how the numbness develops. Also, it could be cause for concern if the numbness lasts even after you’re done skating. For me, it started with numb toes, progressed into pain in the ball of my left foot, then pain and numbness when I wasn’t skating and finally the left big toe tendon partially tore. I’m not saying that’s what’s going on for you, but those are some signs.

Do they fit like the Nexus line
@mongillohockey
@mongillohockey 6 ай бұрын
@@toddwolfe5659 Hi there, unfortunately nothing really fits like the old 1N and 2N Nexus skates. I think the closest is possibly the Tacks line of skates, but even those are much stiffer. If you want that fit, I’d start off with anything from CCM but try everything you can.

I have been using the Nexus 1N for 8 years, until they finally broke. Just bought a pair of Wide XF pros, and the fit is quite good on the boot. very confortable and spacy. The only cons I would have is, the XF pros are very heavy compared to the nexus. And the pitch is very flat. Comming from a nexus it almost feels like its completely to the back. I have trouble sending my weight forward to skate. The boot is much stiffer and the blade is definately good. Im still wondering if I made the right choice or if I should go for the Shadows. Just have doubt if the Shadows fit 3 will fit my wide foot.

@@AngelSanchez-rw3tv So that’s and easy fix. The CCM XS holder is the culprit about the pitch. All that needs to be done is for you to have 1 degree of forward pitch added to your steel and it’ll feel about the same as the Bauer Tuuk Edge holders. If you don’t already profile your steel, you should consider that, too. Remember, if you profile your steel, you also need to as for 1 degree of forward pitch added. I’ve done a lot of testing with pitch and profile and that’s just what needs to be done.

Prefer CCM skates coming from Bauer skates. Went from Supreme M4 and Matrix to Ribcor 76k and 78k. More flat feeling and more planted solid neutral stance. I tried the 2022 Supreme Matrix and did not like it. Lack of heel lock and stiffness. The 76k that I got for 120 bucks were stiffer for power transfer and had better heel lock than the Matrix! Someday when I am rich like Guitar Slinger I can buy one of these skates that costs over 1k.

Bauer's tuuk lightspeed edge bends to easy while CCM's xs holders last longer, though their boots get indented by their holders. I find Bauer's boots last longer than CCM but overall for me CCM has the best skating experience coming from FT6 pro's. But FT6's go soft faster than ASV PRO. I hope ill get to try these shadows out and there new holders but if those bend then ill switch'em out for the xs holders and see if the 2 skates compined will last longer. Sick review!

Thanks! Yeah, the main reason I started my channel is because I wasn't getting the real information I wanted. Specifically, I wanted to know the thoughts of people who actually paid their own money for stuff. That just wasn't out there at the time. In most cases, I'm spending my hard-earned cash on this equipment, so I'm telling it like I see it. Also, send me a link to your video; I'd like to see it.

LOL Honestly, I kinda think the XF Pro's might be a better skate overall, but you know it's all subjective. I really wish the XFs fit me. At the end of the day, both skates are great as long as it's a proper fit.

@@thomastabacchi5903 Hey there, I appreciate the comment. So, I think Justin might just be slowing down because of external factors. I believe he’ll pick it up again.
