Great video! I don’t think anybody else is talking about this

Thanks for the comment! Yeah it was a hunch that we had but finally got the opportunity to test! Thanks for watching!

There are so many variables here that negate the testing (not 100% the same steel (could be different height), different boot, etc. You should just check the height of a holder with a micrometer at the front and rear post, draw a line across, and that will give you the attack angle. Appreciate the insight, but you need more valid data to determine a formal and genuine conclusion.

Hey man, long time no talk! I can hear your internal engineer coming out! Lol. And yes, not exactly a scientific test, but definitely one we were wondering about. I know the steel is good and a one for one match on height between both steel because both are brand new and profiled by the same person. The micrometer test intrigues me, though. Unfortunately all I have are calipers. I wonder if I could pull it off with those. What are your thoughts? Do you think there’s an inherent forward pitch to one or the other? You’re about the only other person who I know with that experience.

This was an interesting vid. Last year I switched from Bauer Supreme to CCM Tacks AS-V Pro. I love the wide toe narrow heel fit of the Tacks but when I first skated on them I kept feeling like I was falling backwards and on hard cuts or crossovers I kept losing my edge and wiping out. So I got the blades profiled on a Quad 1 the same as my old Supremes. It still felt different than the Supreme but it was about 95% there. Now after quite a few hours playing in them I’m so adjusted to them that I don’t think I could skate very well in my old skates. I’m not sure if forward pitch is better or worse but it is hard to go from one to the other.

Hey thanks for the comments! Yeah it’s a pretty interesting topic to me. I think the only true way to see if it was really all in the holder is to put a CCM XS holder on a Bauer skate. Lol. I can say that putting forward pitch on the ccm steel makes it feel like it has slightly less forward pitch than bauer with NO forward pitch added.

This is exactly me, I wore the asv tacks and loved the boot and quality, but now I wear Bauer supreme and love the forward pitch but I miss the CCM quality boot, between those two I think CCM is way better quality. And maybe that's why some NHL players have CCM boots with the tuuk holder, who knows
@mongillohockey Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comment! So, my theory is that the CCM XS holder is actually in some ways a better holder than the Tuuk holders. It’s also really the first good CCM holder unless we’re talking going way back in time. I think players are just used to the feel of Tuuk holders. Now that I did this unscientific experiment I think the Tuuk is just a better performing holder. I think what I’ll personally do is put Tuuk holders on my next pair of CCM boots and go with that. Best of both worlds.

@@mongillohockey how do you do that? Hockey stores will do that? If I can I would like to try CCM asv tacks on tuuk holders but I didn't know that was even an option... NHL players can do whatever they want obviously but I didn't think local hockey stores would do that...

@@hudakarli5512 Oh yes! I’ve done it with most pairs of skates that I’ve owned that were t Bauer skates. If your local shop is comfortable replacing rivets, they should also be able to do holder swaps too. In fact, I’m pretty sure the rivet hole line up already. You should ask them.
@@hudakarli5512 You’re welcome and let me know how it goes!

Let's make a comparison of All Bauer +all CCM +Bauer skates with CCM holders +CCM skates with Bauer holders. hahahah. This will be more interesting. 🤣🤣
@mongillohockey Жыл бұрын
Are you trying to figure out which brand/holder/model has the most forward pitch?
@happyvilly Жыл бұрын
@@mongillohockey That's right.
@mongillohockey Жыл бұрын
@@happyvilly Well, I can give you one man’s opinion. I’ve own two pairs of Custom True skates, Bauer Vapor 2X Pros, Bauer Ultrasonic, CCM Ribcor 80K, CCM Supertacks AS1 and AS3 Pro, Vapor Hyperlites and now the CCM FT4 Pro Jetspeed. Here’s how the pitch felt to me…. Forward Pitch from Most to Least: 1. True Skate by FAR the most 2. Supreme Ultrasonic 3. Vapor Hyperlite and 2X Pro 4. Ribcor 80K 5. CCM Ribcor 100K pro, Jetspeed FT4 pro and Supertacks ASV Pro were all the same and the most neutral pitch. Finally, as this video depicts, if you put a Bauer holder on a CCM boot, that seems to provide a little more forward pitch.
