Just started a channel and also was hoping I’d have a good Chicago race to share. It also didn’t go well for me (I knew it was going to be hard with all my training issues over the summer) so I can relate. But I appreciate and have the utmost respect for the honesty and complete openness about your race experience. Much props and love the video anyway!

Man, I know exactly what you mean and how you felt with the lemon lime Huma plus. I still use them but now I mix my gels up between BPN berry, maurten and Huma plus for that exact reason. Also, just because you didn’t meet your goal, you should still be very proud of yourself! The marathon is no joke at the end of the day. Even when training goes to plan, we can’t predict what will happen on race day. Love your channel and keep up the great work.

I passed for the same experience. At the 36km I had cramps and after that I only tried to arrive. I don't how to explain that, I was well trained and feeling very good. We have to be patience, these things happen. Now, it's time to rest and return stronger. Greetings from Brazil

The fitness is there, you PR'ed your half. Train for some shorter stuff, stack more cycles and crush it next fall.

Definitely the plan going forward 👍. Taking recovery day by day. May or may not hop in another race before winter comes around before resetting everything and starting back up with some 5k/10k training.

First of all, I’m sorry to hear your race experience didn’t go as planned, I had been following your game plan and had fairly similar time goals in mind so I was rooting for you. I had a VERY similar experience except I decided at mile 16 to start easing the pace and then eventually jogged in at around a minute below goal pace for the last 10 miles but felt almost identical pre-cramping symptoms to what you faced, thankfully I didn’t have to stop but definitely didn’t get the time I wanted either. I decided to jump into the Indianapolis marathon in just a couple weeks because it’s within driving distance and similar course to Chicago so I’m doing a rapid turnaround to get ready for that.
@HobbyJoggerElite2 күн бұрын
Sorry to hear you had a similar scenario play out! It’s tough to have a months-long training block lead up to that kind of day, but like we’re all reminded: the marathon can be very humbling. It’s awesome to hear you’re bouncing back and running Indy! Seems like a great event and a solid opportunity to run fast. Best of luck out there 💪

I had the same issue with the stomach pain side stitch. It really sucks. The only pattern I could find is that I took too much bagels. What was the amount of bagel intake during training?
@HobbyJoggerElite2 күн бұрын
I wish the fix was that easy for me! I always practice day-before carb loading for long runs throughout the training block, and bagels are a staple of that. Typically getting 500g - 600g of carbs on the day before my long efforts. Never had any issues with having bagels prior to training or racing before.
@Richard-lx3xk2 күн бұрын
@@HobbyJoggerElite Yeah I was thinking you are experienced enough to not do something new on/before raceday. In that case the only thing I can think about is a stomach bug. Or, I also wonder if you would've had the same experience in a smaller marathon. The overstimulation of the crowds can subconsciously mess with your breathing pattern.

Nike lava loops pretty good pocket wise - there is new ver different to yours - 2 side pockets phone size, 3 front pockets each good for 2-3 gells and back zip... only downside material is bit thicker - as always the case with trial tights ... but done sydney maraton in them month ago and they are my race choice for now - also priced at $100aud and always in stock - while bandits are at $220aud and always out of stock ... Otherwise reggie are fantastic- nice materials and very comfy - but no pockets - need belt of some sort for longer runs / racing Not fan of aliston - wierd very compresive fit - and in regards to pockets still need belt with it for long run / race Another fav in terms of comfort is nike aero - priced well but again no pockets Have few more as im only running in half tights or 2 in 1 shorts - but my best are 1. lava loops 2. Reggie 3. Aero Very good break down review 👏

Awww yeah, son! Let’s goooo! You’ve already got low 2:50s in the bag. Sometimes it’s good to jump into a scary pace and see how long you can hold it . See what you’re made of. Failure ain’t a bad thing, only if you never push yourself to the limit (in my opinion). If you’re flirting with sub 2:50. 1:26:00 at half. I would go for it, but it sounds like you’re going to do that anyway. 💪🏼 just remember that when it hurts, this is when you shine . This is the difference. This is what makes you special . LFG!!!
