In regards to the first part I don't think it's overly complex, you can say things and not believe in them and vice versa. Lying is based on people saying things they don't mean, we know intent and meaning are separate things that just entangle with each other rather than tightly knit together. In regards to Cage idk, he's dumb at worst for what he chooses to put in his games. But I will say that there's a limit to how far ignorance can hold as an explanation for harmful behavior/portrayals, etc. regardless of intent. The people who aren't affected by said behaviors tend to get a grace that the people on the receiving end don't, and most times can't afford to either. For Cage a poorly disguised fetish and his insistence on dabbling in poorly executed "political" themes, isn't necessarily what I'm referring with this but it's applicable still. (As I typed this out I forgot his racist archetype characters he's used in the past, so lol.
