I appreciate you showing the inside of the door, but wouldn't it have been much easier to just knock out the steel center and drill out the aluminum rivet head from the inside like on any other vehicle? No door skin removal required.

Are the openings inside the door in the right place to get at the rivets with a drill?

Hey man, I was just wondering how the water pump was holding up? I got one from rockauto and I was curious about the sealant. I've been reading that some people use the orange RTV sealant but end up having to take it back apart because it leaks. Never seen anyone use high tack before. Which would you recommend? I'm overhauling my entire cooling system. I've got that red gasket sealer that comes in a can that strings everywhere too that I normally use for the thermostat housing, has its own brush, but it gets absolutely everywhere. Just curious if you could point me in any direction here. I've never replaced a water pump in my jeep (95) but it has the same layout as your 98, (I have 3 jeeps that all have the 4.0). Thanks if you can help! Otherwise I guess I'll just not use a sealant at all and smush the gasket and the pump on there dry

It's been about a year since I filmed this, and the water pump is holding up great. I've used the high tack gasket sealant on a few water pumps before and it always seems to hold up. I think I had my last Jeep for about 3 years after I did the water pump on that one

Actually if you put on larger tires the speedometer will read slower then you are going.

How does this filter actually filter the air with a hole on the opposite end of the air intake tube? It seems like it’s a straight through design.

That’s a good question I never thought about, just put the k&n on mine and glad I did.

It’s essentially two filters. The cone itself and on the opposite end, the filter tapers down to a point inside the larger one. So it is all enclosed.

Watched your Jeep video which brought me here. Funny this is that I also had a 2018 st and a red 1998 xj also. Haha

Hi there, I've bought them from a couple different Jeep part sites before. Extreme terrain.com and quadratec.com are great sources for Jeeps, and rockauto.com has parts for almost anything

Hey, just throwin this at you in case you have an opinion. I've got a 96XJ I deliver mail in. Odometer works (but seems to neither be miles or km....it is a factory RHD from Japan), but the speedometer works only sometimes. Going to get under it this Sunday, but do you think the odometer working and speedo being intermittent would point more to worn gears, as opposed to an electrical part?

@buttsgarage4530 2 жыл бұрын
Hi, the odometer and the speedometer both get their data from the speed sensor on the transfer case (the part the gear attaches to). Because your odometer is working, it sounds like the gear is ok. I think in your case this indicates an electrical issue or possibly an issue with the guage itself

Since the filter is open on one side, can’t stuff just go straight in?
@buttsgarage4530
@buttsgarage4530 2 жыл бұрын
Nope! The opening is still filtered. From the opening, it's got another cone of filter media inside the main body of the filter
