My pedal of the year is the $30 DemonFX Zdrive. The original Hermida Zen Drive was never made from exotic parts. Simple robust industrial grade parts did the job. DemonFx took advantage and simply duplicated the pedal part for part, brand for brand. (Keep in mind ALL of the brand name American, German, Japanese analog parts are made in China) Robben Ford is just finishing up his European tour. He used the Zen Drive and says he pretty much uses it even on Studio session as it nails his Dumble so why waste pricey studio time only to get exactly the same sound. Add to all this the $30.00 USD Zdrive saves you wasting money with all those very pricy latest Dumble pedals. I simply asked myself are these Dumble pedal makers and reviewers right about what is the perfect Dumble or is Robben Ford. Well it it only cost me $30.00 USD (with free shipping) to find out.😇

I love the tone, but my question is… Is it loud at 60w? Like Hot rod deluxe ball-park loud? That’s my ballpark for knowing I could keep up with a drummer and bass player at gig volumes. Can anyone shed any light? Thanks!
@blazeofglory1982Ай бұрын
It’s very loud. Had no problem playing over bass and drums. The 2x12 helps push a lot of air. The amp has a surprising amount of headroom. I was impressed by how rich and full the tone was at 60 watt mode. At 60 watts I would rarely go above 5 maybe 6.
@adamovens454Ай бұрын
@ awesome! This is reassuring as I’m looking to get this amp eventually. I have a box AC30 head and cab and play with the cab on its side fo years so it’s the same configuration as the foundry, it’s lightweight and familiarity in the speakers is what’s lead me to wanting it! Thanks for the prompt response!
@uteowlАй бұрын
I have this and didn’t really dig at first. Then I used an A/B switch to play around with the EQ & ISF to match it to my Blues Jr. & VT22. That let me get the tones I like. Ever since then this amp is incredible. The feature I like the most is the 50-5w button. I’m not all that crazy about the sound of the OD channel but I use pedals anyway for my dirt. I’ve wondered what a speaker upgrade would do to improve the tone. I do also like that this puppy weighs less than 20 lbs.

Is the onboard reverb any good.
@lynfield1731Ай бұрын
I gig all the time with this amp. Originally bought it as a practice amp, and used a Fender 65 RI Twin Reverb for gigging. One day I thought I wonder how it would work at a gig......I haven't gone back to the Twin Reverb since (about 4 years). I use in ear monitors and mic up the Orange Crush and it works and sounds fantastic. I ONLY use the clean channel and my pedal board with an overdrive and a distortion (plus the usual delay, chorus, compressor and tuner) and a Strat and Les Paul. We play about 50 cover songs at a gig and it does the job perfectly. Love my Twin Reverb but the little Orange is SO much more convenient. Couple of things to consider...1) All the nuances of tube vs solid state, hand wired circuits, or vintage this and that go straight out the window when you're on a bar stage blasting it out next to a live drum kit and a bass player 2) it's PLENTY loud and it fills up any indoor venue when you mic it thru the PA and 3) the audience doesn't care about your guitar amp - just so long as it makes sounds like what they're expecting to hear.

I will take delivery of the 1x12 version of that amp tomorrow! While it's probably loud enough to gig with at all but the largest venues it's mainly going to be used at home. The 1w output mode is useful for that. I had thought of getting the Laney Super Cub 12 valve amp instead but it's more expensive and probably doesn't offer as much flexibility - might be better sound though. My main amp is a 1963 Selmer Zodiac tube combo but that's not home-friendly to play at volumes it produces its best tones.

@@blazeofglory1982 I have played with it for a week or so and like the sounds so decided to keep it :) With it being a vertical twin it doesn't take up any more floor area in my 'studio' (lol, smallest room in the house!) than the 1x12 does, and being taller the controls are better placed. It is way more powerful than I actually need.. but then 1x12 is also surprisingly loud if you want it to be. At just £319 I paid here in the UK for mine (it was 'B' stock, in this case just the box had been opened everything still new) I'm not going to find a better amp for the money. Laney seem to have produced a solid state amp here that produces a very tube like sound without going down the digital route.. in term of voicing, which do you prefer? the orange crush or this?
@blazeofglory19823 ай бұрын
It feels a bit unfair to compare the two because the orange was a 20 watt 1x10 and this is a 60W 2x12. I prefer this because the voicing feels more vintage and I feel it has more versatility. Also after trying many orange amps I’ve determined that while they sound great, they just aren’t my thing.
