Mother Nature dosn't like humans clogging up her veins, this has or will happen to every single dam in the entire world because money and power hungry humans fail, Mother Nature does not. Now that she has shown her intentions to engineers will they take heed or will they again go against her wishes? Need power? Move by a power plant. Need a lake? Move by one. Need a replacement clog in Mother Nature's vein? Be prepared to again pay a price that ends this same way, maybe not immediately, but, eventually.

The bridge is The United States…..the debris and trees covering the support is our Government…..the river is Biden/Harris! It's just a matter of time people!!! #TRUMP2024
@EmmaVivianeАй бұрын
Dam was free flowing and clear before flooding. Debris is from drought killed trees upstream due to climate change. The dam did not overtop. It held. If it actually failed the dam store would probably still be there. The surrounding “bedrock” is limestone that is why the scour is so large and still unsafe. The bridge is being demolished. Nobody around here was crazy enough to drive heavy machinery on flooded ground to try to remove trees in an active flooding event.

That's bridge failure looks like it was deterating before the water bypass event. Those poles are heavy rusted that takes a few years at least. So the bridge was an accident waiting to happen

So what's next? Great drone footage.
@oldcrackadated2 ай бұрын
Just strap a few 4x4 s around the bridge piling it will be fine, I find it amazing to see the bridge still standing it was well built & I remember the video of the flood the failure of the concrete around the base may have stopped the water from moving the foundation enough to cause collapse

The worst part is that the people that allowed this to happen won't learn a thing from it. They won't even admit climate change is the root cause. We're screwed.

Poor management led this mess,bridge is fixable For sure.
@gordontaylor28152 ай бұрын
3:11 The debris field here is where the Dam Store had stood before it was demolished - even if the river didn't scour far enough to directly undercut it, the building would've still been WAY too close to the edge to make it safe to occupy!
@SHAREMediaBKАй бұрын
It is undercut quite a bit. I’d be surprised if it’s done cutting away.

The amount of scouring there is impressive. Looks like the bridge is basically being condemned. Depends on how much shifting of that pylon occurred (both laterally and vertically) as a result of the excavation as to whether or not it can be repaired in place. Don't forget that the other pylon foundations were also damaged, though those are likely easily fixed. There is going to be a heck of a lot of cleanup needed and it's going to be a long and expensive rebuild project, assuming it is rebuilt at all.
@oldbumАй бұрын
The blue earth county board voted to demolish the bridge and dam, only the bridge will be rebuilt.

My heart breaks for the family that lost their store then home. This is not American exceptionalism. Have they determined if this was an engineering failure or was it overrun by a superior force Mother Nature?

Nature I would venture. The dam & bridge are both still standing. Don't cha think?
