Market was slowing as evidenced by consolidation. Stern survived several lean years after 2000. Williams was making a lot of money with slot machines why would they stay in underperforming pinball when slots were so profitable ? Fat 50 and 60 year olds buying machines for their basement and youngsters who played video pinball revived it.

Great Job! I’m currently in the process of a complete tear down and full shop job on my RFM, including cleaning and rebuilding all the underside mechs. Question on the LED conversion…. Looks like you lit the inserts with all LEDs but left the Back 1/3 of the GI incandescent? Did you use non ghosting on the inserts? any issues with the inserts dimming with the LEDs (RFM has modes where the inserts dim as well)?

Thank you very much for your help here…… In this day and age misinformation a man running for president uses a fake picture to show how many people were at his speech, dishonesty has gotten rampant. I always thought of pinball as a very, very, very small interest and that, it never even crossed my mind that there would be scammers. But clearly they’ve done an excellent job, and you’ve done an excellent job of warning everyone so thank you so much. Be wary of everyone these days. I was at that rally. It was surprisingly not well attended. When I saw the photograph, they released jammed with people, I thought geez it sure didn’t look like that when we were there. Then of course it turned out to been an Elton John concert from 30 years ago photographed that they used. And I realize then you can’t even trust, the size of a crowd. And now you can’t trust buying pinball machines anyway I’m ranting. I just appreciate you very very much… Keep on flipping!

It was a cool concept, but Pinball 2000 was too expensive to own and repair for arcade owners. Meanwhile the new video arcades were attracting all the players and were both cheaper and easier to maintain. So, the pinball machines faded out. I actually don’t like these machines because the top 3rd of the playfield is devoid of anything but flat targets due to the video mode.

There's more to Williams getting out of pinball. they along with the Bally rights were acquired by Scientific Games, around this time that they attempted Pinball 2000, who was already into things like state lottery/gambling, Bally's roots believe it or not were actually slot machines back at it's inception in the early 1930's. Midway was spun off as an independent company and sold to American Amusements and driven into the ground.

You got ripped. When I bought my complete set for $1200.00 it also came with an apron cover as well. I never used the idol and still have it, because I bought a 24k plated original idol and liked it better. It does look amazing, but I can't understand why they wouldn't include the apron. Needless to say I sold my Indy for 20k, but it was completely all good armor, the Elite Topper Ark, with the Dior ruin set. Such a beautiful machine I wish I had it back!!!

Believe it or not, TAF is actually the game that killed pinball. It was so good people didn't want to buy new ones. It stayed at "A" locations much longer than any other one.

I did very similar in 2016 with a project RFM I came across, complete restore new side art with cab repair, pin blades that I had custom printed, etc. It has a custom topper with fog machine and interactive spaceship lights that go off if you 'attack mars' and occasionally on a timer some fog comes across the top. Custom speaker grill art, all the aliens, spaceship hand weathered and detailed, etc. It was my first ever pinball project so I went all out, even the inside of the cab is painted black and red. Had a lot of fun doing it but don't think I will ever go that extreme again lol. Happy I did because RFM is a great overall machine that everyone who plays enjoys (not just pinheads).

Not sure I understand why this system killed a company, but the multimorphic system seems to be working, even though the concepts seem similar.
