I played the final 2 Pinball 2000 (unfinished machines) "Wizard Blocks" and "Playboy." Awesome for what they were. I wish Wizard Blocks would've been released before the end. RIP Bally Williams pinball.

Great Job! I’m currently in the process of a complete tear down and full shop job on my RFM, including cleaning and rebuilding all the underside mechs. Question on the LED conversion…. Looks like you lit the inserts with all LEDs but left the Back 1/3 of the GI incandescent? Did you use non ghosting on the inserts? any issues with the inserts dimming with the LEDs (RFM has modes where the inserts dim as well)?

Just wanted to let you all know that the code was actually finished this new version of code ads, improvements and extra gameplay options like reversed flippers, tournament, play, and party mode, and points war, and some new test, features and options

I've had problems with the 'low power/reversed' flippers getting stuck after the mode so had to turn it that option off in the settings, but the shaker motor/knocker/and 6 ball mods that the new software supports is are cool.

Pinball 2000 didn't kill pinball, gambling did. Slot machines are more profitable than pinball. Revenge from Mars sold more units than most games in the 90s (not including Addams family obviously)
@TPRErik9 ай бұрын
Yep. I know that soon after William’s Star Wars Episode 1 machine came out that some of programming team went to go make video slot machines.
@billyelliotx9 ай бұрын
Yep, it was actually successful and sold well. But it still wasn't enough to "save pinball". The concept of Revenge and Episode 1 really was ahead of its time. It wasn't until the projector from Stranger things that you started to get a similar concept in a modern day game.
@toyotaboyhatman9 ай бұрын
@@billyelliotx stranger things isn't the same thing, that's projection mapping (video projected onto a surface). Pin2k is a hologram (image floats in front of a background using peppers ghost). There's a user (linoleum?) that not only created the unreleased pat lawlor wizard blocks, but created a pin2k version of demolition man

I did very similar in 2016 with a project RFM I came across, complete restore new side art with cab repair, pin blades that I had custom printed, etc. It has a custom topper with fog machine and interactive spaceship lights that go off if you 'attack mars' and occasionally on a timer some fog comes across the top. Custom speaker grill art, all the aliens, spaceship hand weathered and detailed, etc. It was my first ever pinball project so I went all out, even the inside of the cab is painted black and red. Had a lot of fun doing it but don't think I will ever go that extreme again lol. Happy I did because RFM is a great overall machine that everyone who plays enjoys (not just pinheads).

Labor of love. Hopefully you got a good deal at the auction so all the parts bought to fix made it a good deal.
@MikeGervasi9 ай бұрын
This was the first pin I bought. It didn't kill Williams pinball production as it was a huge hit. Star Wars P2000 did that as it's practically a giveaway when you buy a P2K system now. Other than the Apron and possibly the backglass the rest were easy to source or fix on this one.

What parts did you use to convert to video monitor. And were can you get the new code from.
@DriverGuy236 ай бұрын
It was a cool concept, but Pinball 2000 was too expensive to own and repair for arcade owners. Meanwhile the new video arcades were attracting all the players and were both cheaper and easier to maintain. So, the pinball machines faded out. I actually don’t like these machines because the top 3rd of the playfield is devoid of anything but flat targets due to the video mode.

The pinball machine that 'killed' pinball is the successor "Star Wars Episode I". Due to the high license costs and the unfulfilled expectations for this model, Williams withdrew from pinball production. But in the end this was a long announced step, because Williams had been making more money with slot machines for a long time. They had no intention of holding out any longer, because the Pinball 2000 concept was and still is a very good concept and may IMHO be the future of pinball. I have both models and the RFM is by far the better model. Without the SWEI, Williams might have been forced to bring more models to market as the development team wanted and we might still have new Williams/Bally pinball machines.

@@empirepinball Actually the game that killed pinball was The Addams Family. It was literally too good, and stayed at a locations much longer than it was supposed to. Ever since that day, pinball died a slow death. It's why williams ended up trying pinball 2000.
