😭 you are amazing, the things you talk about on your channel are so important. You probably can’t tell, cause my channel is in German, but I recently talked about “Selbstheilungskräfte” which translates into ‘self healing’. I read the book ‘You are the Placebo’ from Dr. Joe Dispenza and it blew my mind. I had a chronic illness too (ME/CFS), and I was so miserable the last 2 years, no doctor could help me, they even said that it’s not healable. After I read the book, started meditating and told myself that I wasn’t sick, I got my power back… literally… so what you say here resonates with me so much!!! I have one last question: Do you have days when you are afraid that the illness might come back? If so, what do you usually do in these moments? I mean, we're not supposed to think about that, are we?! Because if we do, we live in this fear and maybe make ourselves ill again Sending you lots of love 🪻🧡 have a great day
@JessicaRuthie3 ай бұрын
@@juliasgedanken thank you so so much!! Your comment was so overwhelmingly appreciated so I wanted to make time to thoughtfully get back to you 💕 There are many, many sources I’ve used for the mental reprogramming and mindset switches I have made and continue to make, and after all that work I THEN learned about Dr. Joe Dispenza! He’s right on the money with his teachings. Meditation is a practice that heals me and keeps me much more level headed than I am otherwise! Let me say this about any type of fear. Because yes I have thoughts come through my head that don’t want to leave, thoughts like ‘I’m feeling pain again in my urethra’ or ‘what if I didn’t do everything perfect today and my pee starts burning again’ and you know what? I think acknowledging the thoughts as valid and real is just as important as letting them go and not giving them more time than ‘Hi yes! I hear you. I am actually very healthy and I feel great! No need to worry here!’ Because as human beings, my body lived in a state of pain for a long time, and it had evolved to look out for ways to avoid feeling pain again. And seriously, no matter what activities I do or don’t participate in, when I allow the FLOW of thoughts in and out of my mind unconsciously, rather than attaching to them, I notice less anxiety about my previous chronic pain AND NO SYMPTOMS. Plus, when I consciously put myself into a gratitude state for my health, and how awesome I feel, that further amplifies my healing. I have felt the ocasional shadow pain that makes my mind go back to the dark place it was for so long, but I have made it a trigger for thoughts and FEELINGS of gratitude for my health. This is obviously coupled with the daily actions I take of hydration, supplementation, nutrition and hygiene, but all of those things were with me throughout the entirety of my chronic pain. What I’m trying to say here is yes, sometimes I remember how bad it was for me, and I wonder why it’s gone and if it will come back. But then, when I remember that I am the one deciding to identify with it or not, to live a life with that illness or not, then I choose not to, put my head where I want it to be and let go of the fear of the pain returning. Fear is SO TRICKY and I am a human being, so it’s something I work with almost constantly (: Girl thank you so much for asking such a helpful question!!! I hope this helps 🥰💕✨

I absolutely love this message. I’ve gone through so many labels throughout my life and I can honestly say that shedding those labels has been the biggest help for my mental health and well-being. If somebody identifies with some thing, like weightlifting, and say they get hurt or an event happens and they can no longer weight-lift that is when struggle happens. Because they’re forced to let go of that label at a time when they’re not ready.

I think you have a misunderstanding of what disability is, it is not derogatory, it does not mean there is something wrong with you and it is not an excuse. There are people who use it that way and it is harmful. Keep thinking and keep questioning at least you are seeing that society and culture is manipulative.

I get the intention of your video, but it's a little vague and sweeping in it's generalisations. you seem to be touching on a few points here mainly social conditioning and self identity via labelling which are very much not the same thing. I agree that people should be aware and challenge their own negative social conditioning but it isn't in and of itself a negative thing, for example if you were socially conditioned to have a lot of road safety because you live near a busy highway or the ways in which we socialise girls to help keep themselves safe would very much fall into this category. I also agree that labels can be limiting in terms of only seeing an individual as just the label, but that says more about the way in which society treats people who fall under certain labels, rather than the label itself having a negative or limiting connotation. Many people self identify with certain labels because of the sense of community it can bring to them, this is especially true for LGBTQ+ individuals and neurodivergent folks who have commonly not been believed by society when speaking about their own lived experiences. Again i empathise with the intention of your video but i think a little more due care was needed in it's delivery, telling people that have genuine struggles with predisposed genetic conditions that it's all environmental is not helping anyone, in fact it's adding to the stigma some of these people face and could actually endanger them, I myself am a late diagnosed ADHD'er and while i'm very aware that medication is a very personal experience for each individual, for me they saved my life.
@JessicaRuthie5 ай бұрын
Ahhh thank you so so much for your incredibly detailed opinion! I am a fellow ADHD girl who is working on thinking about diagnosis differently and exploring how and what that looks like. I am learning and doing so publicly, and it’s people like you who take the time to respond to my messages, hear me and share your ideas, that help me grow. I can’t thank you enough for sharing your thoughts with me and everyone else reading these comments, because I agree with you! There was a very foggy line in what I was talking about, and being new to explaining my thoughts, processes and just talking about shit I care about in general, it’s easy to see looking back how obvious that is! I hope you continue to hear my future videos, as I am very curious as to how you perceive them in ways that could continue to help me grow. Thank you a billion times over for taking the time to explain labeling vs self identity, I look foreword to talking much much more about these concepts, as I am really stepping into and figuring out how they work in my life! I hold you have a great day, and I hope to hear from you in the future 🥹😭🙏🏽💕 (also thank you for adding to my expansion and helping me see things differently/broader than I might already)

I largely agree with this video, because I’m a big proponent of the social model of disability. On the other hand, I figured out I was autistic waaaaay too late. I was already deep in what I now understand to be autistic burnout. I needed that label to be able to accept a new and, hopefully temporary, for myself, so I could recover and find a new way forward. However, it’s the demands and conditioning of the society I exist in that made me burn out in the first place. I think that labels can be a pragmatic tool in the coping mechanisms toolbox, but they don’t replace personal development and advocacy for a less disabling society.
@JessicaRuthie5 ай бұрын
Wow thank you so much for your time! I love what you’ve said here. I’m happy you had the opportunity to learn more about yourself. The burnout you described has disrupted my life in waves many, many times. Had I not attempted to resubscribe to societies pressures and frames, I could have avoided most of them (: I also agree with you that a diagnosis will help you understand why your behaviors and patterns exist, and my personal diagnosis were a turning point in my life to look at what I was tuning into for programming. I also needed the label temporarily to better and more deeply understand myself 🥹
