Just picked up all the expansions with the GMT sale.

This is an enjoyable system. LBW is the master of accessible air wargames. I downloaded and printed some nice play aids that replace the cloud counters, well worth it. Place them under plexiglass and it reduces the counter clutter.

Lovely to see it played again, its one of those games I wish I could get to a table more often, and a nice touch to select an anniversary scenario. That was (to me at any rate) a surprisingly bloody affair given the relatively low firepower of early war designs - most of my early war games involving flights tend to end with no losses (aside from maybe a straggler or two) and all flights Returning to Base after their first contact... aside from the one time when the Flying Tigers refused to go home and made (iirc) five successive attacks on some very unlucky Japanese Sallys near Rangoon after the Nates had all disappeared...

Such a great interview with a game designer about his game, one of the best I have seen.

Why do you add a political will every time someone takes an event? I don't see that in the rules can you tell me what rule that is so I can find it?

I play this now as well. You start it totally different than I. I have got stug bats stacked with inf divisions. My German dice usually roll higher 😊 first battles and all of them no lover than 4 on dice. 🎉🎉😊

Overall a really good job! The missions start easy in 1956, so you're doing quite well. Use this time wisely to build your pilot roster.

Very sorry I missed your chat show. I had an old S&T 122 Pegasus Bridge on my table for D day anniversary. I'm very tempted by The Enemy Is At The Gates: Berlin. Have got Tinian I have Only ever pushed counters around, not had game proper.

I'm familiar with Phil Eklund the developer who is well known for rather erudite, intellectual games. I have 2 by him. One is Greenland, a card game about the still mysterious disappearance of the Viking culture there. I also have Bios:Origins about the development of humans from prehistoric times (never played yet....but even the rules are kind of fascinating read). He also did other games, for example another card game called Neaderthal. I may give Interstellar a try just for a break from war games.

There are too few worker placement war games

54:54 Rule 20.4: "Cavalry units may always evade by retreating one hex if an enemy infantry or artillery unit is in an adjacent hex AT THE BEGINNING OF THE SIMULTANEOUS FIRE segment." I can't find anything from rules that would make it possible to withdraw (evade) moving infantry. Cossacks could do that (Rule 22.2) but withdrawing cavalry units seems to be hussar/lancers.

Only Archbishops (Bishops that have entered a Horde Homeland) can "fly" to any land, forward or backward, on its track. (7.1.2; 7.1.3) 19:18 - As Carthage is a "Big City," you would draw three field tiles and keep one, instead of drawing a random tile as usual. (7.1.4.1)

Hi Blue. At 2:57:08 the German squad should have fired as you can trace LOS into, but not through or out of cards with WP (or other Smoke, with the exception of Coloured). And therefore, at 3:15:10, he should have stayed on the map! Enjoying your playthrough whilst eagerly awaiting Deluxe which will be my first foray into FOF. I have the Bulge expansion but I can’t play it until Deluxe arrives!

How do you calculate odds when they are more than 1-2 in the defender's favor?

At about 1:47 in the Russian bombardment in reaction fire should have had the +1 DRM for enfilade I think as they were two hexes apart when they fired on the 4-4 stack?

Hello there! This the best FoF playthrough for sure, well done sir. 8:14 You move your assault team diagonally through PDF to the left... am I interpreting the rules correctly, that the move is not valid? I know this comes very late and you have finished the game, but am I getting that right?
