Your sandworm looks immensely terrifying yet plausible. I like how you incorporated physiological elements of predators. Lots of crazy adapations that really show how the wyrm survives well.

The fact that you created a fictional taxonomical system terrifies and impresses me in equal amounts. I can barely comprehend taxonomy in the real world, let alone create my own taxonomical system for fantastical beings. I applaud thee.

I love that you came up with pseudoscientific beliefs for your characters to hold in order to justify racial classification, it makes the world feel much more nuanced and fleshed out. It also makes sense, especially in a TTRPG setting where "alignment" is a thing

The problem with a biologically plausible giant worm that lives under sand is the need for a big BIG energy source to power that huge body with all the complex parts needed to blow air and liquefy sand in order to swim through it. Honestly yours is pretty clearly built to constantly eat something almost as big as itself with those jaws.
@EtherealEchoesofPangeum
@EtherealEchoesofPangeum 19 күн бұрын
Yeah you're correct, I haven't had the time to address the liquefaction part yet. Also, the desert is teeming with triassic-like animals therefore they'll constantly got food. Some human ethnics even farm them for their medicinal and recreational properties, so they're quite thriving in this environment

I believe the Scylla could be some sort of resulting chimera coming from a Plesiosaur and a Pterosaur, which could also justify the two heads
@EtherealEchoesofPangeum
@EtherealEchoesofPangeum 27 күн бұрын
In my world, chimaera would be impossible due to the biological barriers of interspecies breeding. The two heads was caused by polycephaly, and then preferred by natural selection, therefore keep on existing amongst the population. If there was a chimaera, they would've been coming from another dimension.

Aristotelian philosophy drives me to insanity... I appreciate your willingness to study it for your fantasy setting and apply it accordingly. My favorite part was how any aether remaining in the body after decompression crystalizes and can thus become concentrated magic crystals.

5:33 FUN FACT! I hate it when people say this as they're just factually wrong. Dragons came in all shapes and sizes and whether they had 6 or 4 limbs had NOTHING to do if they're a dragon or a wyvern
@EtherealEchoesofPangeum

I actually agree with you, because the classification of like wyvern etc, it's quite recent, and fictional classification, not a historical fact.

@@EtherealEchoesofPangeum It's the same reason why in one of my fictional worlds I have both wyverns and dragons and they BOTH have 2 legs 2 wings...Or at least one of the dragons does...Basically the point being made is anyone who's trying to say "That's not a dragon that's a wyvern" you can just be like "N O"

What I want to know is how Pterosaurs survive without a problem when there are also Dragons in the equation.
@EtherealEchoesofPangeum
@EtherealEchoesofPangeum Ай бұрын
Simply, different ecological niches. The dragons are not as efficient as the pterosaurs in terms of flight. The dragons could be the predator of the pterosaurs. Like how small birds exist while there are also birds of prey.

I'm currently working on the mythology of the Goth/ Viking tribe. But it was on cosmogony, I haven't done another research for the concept of soul and spirit. But basically the concept from other species will be somewhat similar, it is either dichotomous (body and soul/ spirit) or trichotomous (body, soul, and spirit) or maybe mixed (soul attached to the body, and spirit) like the Hellastic and the Shemaite (Children of Shem) pepole.
