ALL of those "mechanical errors" look a lot like reverted ticks, usually because the books weren't cold pressed or were sent in without waiting a few months to see if the ticks would revert after pressing.

This looks like one of the earliest banana book returns on YT. Lots of them look bent in the case with some waves along the spine.

I recently got back my first CGC submission (August 2024). One of the books was an ASM #252, 9.6. I don’t see any warping. However, I noticed with one or two other books, there was a slight but noticeable bend near the middle of the spine. It seems to me that the vacuum seal of the inner well is at least partially responsible for some of the damage.

Not sure who is more brainwashed... people who still send books to CGC, or people who believe crime is down in the USA? Sorry for your loss, CGC destroyed some of my books years ago, and I'm talking ASM #1 & TOS 39. They ruin your books, but still give it a high grade so that removes them from any responsibility. But if I bought that ASM 9.4 from you, I'd promptly return it. If books inside CGC holders don't honestly match the grade, I don't want it.

If they don’t arrive bowed, they will most likely arrive with scuff marks, blemishes, scratches, interior debris, or Newton Rings. I’m at that point of stopping my grading with them. It’s some of the worst quality control I’ve ever seen out of any company I’ve worked with in or out of the industry.

I only have one graded book, it's from CGC, and I just went to check it after this video. It is warped, albeit not as bad as the ones shown in this video. Absolutely crazy that a company meant to preserve these books would be ok with this. But that's why they have the reputation they do now I guess. Glad I only bought one graded book, I will stick to raw from now on.

A company damages your books in the process of performing a service that you’re paying them for, and you have a legitimate complaint, and your take away is that these consumers are whiners. Grading companies are a complete scam. Just grifters in it for as much money as people will throw at them. PSA is the exact same. Send a card in 3 times and get a different grade every time.

Poor CGC Mike is right! Your pointing out of the contradictions is spot on! And the letter from CGC Mike is a missing part of the puzzle. Since you have access to the CGC boards, please look up dmt02908 "CGC QC Warped Inner Cases." It may or may not be available at this point since I let my membership lapse, but there are so many issues, in addition to the inner well issue, that I bring up there. I saw a recent video where somebody traced the problem back with their own submissions to a couple months last year, but my post is dated last year (2023) and discusses this and other problems with books that were submitted to CGC the previous year (2022).

Holy crap! I'll be honest, when I first starting hearing rumblings of this problem I was thinking to myself people are over reacting there's no way books are bending enough to be damaged. But now that I'm seeing some of these videos where people like yourself are showing the damage... Just wow. This is some major BS. I get it, mistakes happen in design and manufacture... But any halfway decent company would own up to their mistake and make it right. HOW CAN THEY LOOK AT YOUR BOOKS YOU SENT BACK AND SAY THAT'S OK????

We need a legit company to grade comics. Doesn’t make sense. Coins and sports cards have great grading service but comics have to deal with CGC and for some stupid reason CBCS doesn’t sell for anywhere near the same price as CGC.

I've received hundreds of books from CGC with this and/or other problems. Additionally, I had many issues with CGC not taking my concerns seriously all the way up to the president. I had to write off a couple thousand dollars worth of books on my taxes last year because of these issues. I currently have about seventy books still in the CGC cases that I don't feel comfortable putting on the market. How CGC can reconcile doing so is a serious problem. Just so you know, I went to the CGC boards with my complaints about the inner wells and got very little response despite how many photos I posted and how thorough my explanations were I am particularly grateful for your video because it confirms what I've been trying to convey to both the CGC staff and administrators and other graded comic book collectors for the last three years. I don't know if there's a problem with the way they're sealing the inner walls or how they play placed in the hard shell case, but my theory is that the soft plastic is temperature sensitive. Like any other collector, I can climate control my encased comic books once I have received them. However, there is no temperature control in the transit process between Sarasota and where I live or any other customers live. I recently had to turn down an eBay order for two graded books because the shipping destination was Las Vegas, where the temperature last week was 107 degrees. Even though I have pointed out the temperature sensitivity issue to the people at CGC, including one representative who was speaking on my behalf with Matt, the president, directly, they neither confirmed nor denied what appears to me to be a fatal systemic flaw. The problem is that the books, many of which are 9.4, 9.6, and 9.8, have a flawed presentation at their best (including upturned corners, spine creases, bubbling, warping, and Newton rings), and are damaged at their worst. My feeling is that there are grounds here for a class action lawsuit. But, up until tonight, I had no real evidence that anybody was experiencing a similar level of frustration with this issue as me. The best I could do so far, being alone in this, has been to raise awareness wherever I can and do my level best to make sure that CGC never receives another dollar from me. As I said, I dropped my elite membership in February 2024.

And know that more and more people by the day are finding out about this. Hopefully CGC does something, doubtful any of us will recoup damages, but at the minimum, acknowledge their error instead of making us feel like we're crazy.

I don't understand how this happens? Is it during the process of sealing it in the casing? Do they bend it when they're examining it for grading? I don't have any slabbed books myself, but now I doubt I ever will.
