A voice so pure that God finally said "come home and sing for the Angels"

I remember being in my aunties kitchen when this song came on the radio. She was washing dishes , stopped wiped her hands, went into her bedroom and closed the door. She was divorced about a year later.

This song always seemed to be in rotation in my household while growing up. People really sang DOWN back then.....when they finally got around to singing,, that is.

Always a class act. When I was in elementary school, my mom took us on vacation to Hollywood Florida. We stayed at the Diplomat, where Dionne was performing in the Crystal Lounge. My mom took us all dressed up to her performance. After, my brother and I waited in the lobby to see her leave … she changed out of her sequined dresses to jeans, and we hopped in the elevator with her and got her autograph. I have loved her music practically my entire life.

That's a great life experience. Not one female vocalist today can touch Dionne from the 1960's.

Maybe Three Degrees 1970 You know girls: It's hard to find a guy that really blows your mind And you just dig everything he does like Like when he gives you that great big special hug And that (Mm!) heavy kiss Girls, you know the kind The kind that's in the wrong place at the wrong time And it really turns you on Well, I had a guy like that Then that time that happens to all of us, we had an argument And like all, and I mean all of us girls, I said some pretty dumb things like: Get lost! I don't wanna see you anymore! But he was cool He just stood there looking so hurt And he said, "If that's the way you want it" And he split And I just stood therе looking dumb and let that man walk right out of my life And I've been еvil as a wet hen ever since I told myself, I wasn't gonna sweat it! But I did Ohh he was inside of me In my thoughts, my dreams... every place I went I saw his face And my friends, they knew, I know they knew And then one evening I was standing at the bus stop and I heard a voice behind me say "Hi Baby" Oh... I just fell all apart inside because I hadn't heard that voice in such a long time I turned around and there he was Looking good! Oh I just can't tell you how good that man looked to me And as I stood there trying to maintain myself He asked me if I had a few minutes I really wanted to tell him that I had a lifetime but I couldn't blow my cool We stopped at a cozy little place And I guess the shock of seeing him made me order a martini Because that's something that I've never done before But I felt I needed something stronger than coffee to lean on Ohh... the music was soft And the lights were low And that drink had started going to my head He hadn't said anything about us so I knew it was my move And it had to be now I could feel my nerves building I couldn't let him go, not this time! Not this time! So I took his hand Looked him straight into the eyes And I said... I said.... I said: Maybe If I prayed every night (on my knees) You'll come home to me (Home, home) And maybe maybe, maybe If I cried every day You'd come back, you'd come back to stay Maybe (Maybe, maybe baby) Oh! Oh!Maybe! If I could hold your hand (Maybe) You'd understand (Maybe, maybe baby) Maybe! Maybe, maybe, maybe If I just kiss your sweet lips Yeah! You'd be at my command Maybe (Maybe, maybe, baby) Oh! Oh! Maybe (Maybe, maybe, baby) Yeah! Maybe! (Maybe, maybe) Maybe!

Burt Bacharach wrote so many beautiful and memorable songs in the 1960s. They're my favorite 'cuz that's when I first heard them growing up then. Dionne Warwick's voice was picture-perfect for the ballads he wrote, too.

It was by the grace of God that the three of them ever got to agree to this, and so many other collaborations. You have to admit there must've been give and take at every turn, but what it turned into was magic. Sweet music.

The Best song so beautiful and so much soul in her voice. I been searching for this song and finally found it today thank you
Luther counted Dionne as his musical inspiration and idol, remade many if her songs and duets with her. He for sure put his own signature on his updated remake
