Love this thought provoking video. I just sold all my photography gear and just taking photos with my phone for now. There’s a saying, what nourishes me destroys me. Photography became that for me and I’m pausing to think about why. Thank you for this video ❤️

Thank you for watching. I think we’ve gotten so used to consuming in every way, that we don’t stop and take stock of who we are and what we’ve fattened ourselves on. Like food, it’s important for us to live and it’s also really awesome that it tastes great but there is a point where it starts destroying us.

I brought this film to Mardi Gras this year and it became apparent that it handles synthetic materials and dyes differently than natural colors and dyes. For instance, beads that were the same color purple as the purple on flags would come out cooler. The synthetic materials on the flags came out with a magenta push. Similarly, green in trees and plants were kind of muted and forest-green-ish but similar greens on flags, shirts, and faux flowers came out with a more lime push to their color. Very interesting film

That is pretty strange. It may be that it’s influenced by surrounding colours & dyes.

Very valid thoughts! Thanks for sharing. I feel very similar, I think distraction is one of the new idols/gods of our time. We are truly a world that is addicted to noise and stimulation. Just think of how different the world would be if we each spent just a bit of time in nature without any artificial noise each day.
@darrengodssonfielding
@darrengodssonfielding 22 күн бұрын
It would be immensely different. It is very encouraging to know that we are not alone in our hope for what humanity could be, and feeling lost amongst the noise. I’m hoping that we can challenge those around us to put away their distractions for a bit and to take in all the beauty around us and appreciate it. Thanks for your comment, I deeply appreciate it and I appreciate you!

Good video and message mate and you are correct in your appraisal about modern society. Youu are obviously a very conscientious bloke and the fact that you are a teacher is great because no doubt you will impart this wisdom with your students. Practicing gratitude is one of the most important skills to nurture and is an effective antidote for depression; what I often do whenever I am feeling crap is watch travelling vlogs and it will always put my own selfish miopia in check. If you have other subjects for positive thinking I would encourage you to post them, even if the views are few there is always the potential that someone will find it when they need it most so strive on good Sir. Kudos.

@darrengodssonfielding When the film and chemistry first came out, my photo partner brought it to the studio/darkroom with the Kodak white paper. As I recall, the claim was highest range and lat with the finest grain made by Kodak when processed with the dedicated developer. We shot a test roll through a Bonica ( I think) and processed it. It was to my eye, and his, the best we had ever seen. Almost foolproof and forgiving, it was everything the white paper said.

I found your channel from a comment you made on another video, looks like you’ve been working really hard at this channel for years now and probably thousands of hours! I hope you love video editing as much as photography! 😅 I don’t have a channel so take it with a grain of salt but from the perspective of a stranger just popping in the thing I think would help most is variation in voice. You seem to have a naturally slow and mellow tone which in our hectic impatient society is easy to overlook. I think it would be really awkward and unnatural to try to change that but what I’ve noticed is that people with your style of speech do best when their message is very succinct. So rather than saying 100words in 5 seconds and talk in circles like so many kids these days you can take your time but really plan what you’re going to say and eliminate “parasites” like umm, like, ya know, etc. I think that will add a lot of value to your videos and keep people sticking around and coming back for more. I hope this is helpful and I think you’re doing really great work and wish you the best of luck with your channel! 🍀

Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts and encouragement with me. I do enjoy editing but not as much as photography. ( I think that’s mostly because I’m not good at it and I get impatient with myself.) I have been trying to focus more on what I’m saying with less wasted breaths and throwaway words between. It’s been a while and with each video I get just that little bit better at it, and that little bit more comfortable on camera. Comments like yours definitely help and inspire me to keep on keeping on.
