You must be very fortunate to have a motor that will cold start on 3 pulls. Mine is brand new. It takes 10 to 15 pulls on cold start. You said yours had not been started in approx 24 to 48 hrs. There must have been fuel still in the carb. When I run the the fuel out after shutting the fuel off and letting it sit for a week or so, it will not start that easy. I'm not the only one. Several have converted theirs over to external tanks just so they can prime the carb.
@BuckcreekTVАй бұрын
I did still have fuel in the lines and the carb I know exactly what you're referring to for long-term storage i.e. a month or longer I do drain the carb and I am in the same boat it takes several pulls for the fuel pump to push enough fuel to the carburetor before it'll start.

150lb line but not 150lb knot lmao an you can grab it by the tail it will help support it more not so much pressure on the knot an line
@BuckcreekTVАй бұрын
I misspoke I meant to say 115lb, upon review when I got home the lines had degraded significantly in just two years. They were breaking at 10 lbs of force. I put new lines on the jugs since then. I also tend to not handle catfish when filming to keep recording equipment cleaner.
@startingtraditionsoutdoorsАй бұрын
Why don't you just grap the fish. They don't bite
@BuckcreekTVАй бұрын
Having been finned by several catfish it is not fun. The smaller the fish the sharper the fins. Also, since I'm working with camera and mic gear I went to keep it as clean as possible. So easier to just use a rag

Great video, Peyton! I'm getting ready to maintain my Merc 3-1/2 HP and this video will be a great help. One item you didn't mention is flushing the motor. I'm having a problem finding the right adapter to do that. Do you know what I should be looking for to flush the motor?
@BuckcreekTVАй бұрын
Thank you, I'm glad I am able to help. One of the downsides to this outboard is that given how small/slim the lower unit is there isn't a good way to flush it using muffs. The best way I've found to flush this outboard is by either filling up a 5 gallon bucket and having a stand that sits low enough to it or buying an inexpensive used 55 gallon drum and placing the outboard on the side of it like I did in the video and fill it up to where the lower unit is 6 inches underwater.
@Steve32162Ай бұрын
@@BuckcreekTVThe manual refers to a "hose coupling" and says to use a Mercury Precision or Quicksilver accessory without providing any specifics. As I can't seem to find a coupling, the bucket method may be my only option. Thanks again.
