Small add to your suggestion to shut the fuel off and run dry.... Try to RE-start it with the Choke on. If you can catch it when it starts to die, use the choke by applying it just enough to keep it running, keep this up until it only runs on full choke. THEN it will have removed the MOST fuel from the Carb and other fuel system parts. I suggest ONLY using fuel WITHOUT any Ethanol! Add Sta-Bil to all fuel used and you will have MANY less visited to the repair shop for fuel related issues! Also.... HEAT & TIME are Gasoline's WORST enemy's! The Higher the Temp, the shorter the life of the fuel! Add time and it goes bad quick! GREAT Video! Thanks!

Thanks for watching! I don't personally have an extension for mine. However, I have a few products from brocraft that have held up very well and they sell one. Here is a link to their extension hope it helps:) amzn.to/44emMtX

I had one. Bought it new. Used it for several years...then the carb clogged. They don't come with fuel filters in the lines! Would have prevented the problem. Next one will be EFI for sure. We got about 8 mph in a 14 ft aluminum Jon boat with two men, A cooler, trolling motor, and a battery. At wide open throttle it would run about 44 minutes before needing to refill gas tank.

That sounds awesome! I'm going to have to fix the car again. I bought a brand new one and that didn't do the job. I wonder if there's junk in the fuel system? That's the next step in line for me

I am new to boating. I just ordered a 14-footer PortaBote which has a max load capacity of 701 lbs. Can this 3.5HP handle a 570 lbs combined weight?
@BuckcreekTV7 ай бұрын
Hey, yes it should be. It won't be very fast but it will get you where you need to go. If the boat is rated for more power it wouldn't hurt to step up to a 5hp

You must be very fortunate to have a motor that will cold start on 3 pulls. Mine is brand new. It takes 10 to 15 pulls on cold start. You said yours had not been started in approx 24 to 48 hrs. There must have been fuel still in the carb. When I run the the fuel out after shutting the fuel off and letting it sit for a week or so, it will not start that easy. I'm not the only one. Several have converted theirs over to external tanks just so they can prime the carb.
@BuckcreekTV4 ай бұрын
I did still have fuel in the lines and the carb I know exactly what you're referring to for long-term storage i.e. a month or longer I do drain the carb and I am in the same boat it takes several pulls for the fuel pump to push enough fuel to the carburetor before it'll start.

I have a 2.5hp n it looks exactly the same. Do you know the difference between them
@BuckcreekTV8 ай бұрын
Not off the top of my head but if I had to guess likely just the carb. I know the 3.5 can be upgraded to 5 horsepower. If you buy a new car for it possibly the same for the 2.5 but that's a guess

Hello, are you still satisfied with your engine?
@BuckcreekTV9 ай бұрын
Not really, I am having issues . I have read on several forums that there are flooding issues which I am experiencing and have not resolved by first cleaning the original carb and then replacing it. It hasn't run properly since I placed it on the boat. It runs at full throttle for 30 seconds then floods out.
