I can never get tired of watching this. I remember it was a SP train in the movie Duel with Dennis Weaver.
@michlo33933 ай бұрын
And that was Soledad Canyon. The same pool out of Bakersfield ran those trains. Back then, when Duel was shot, it was double-ended with LA guys going north and Bakersfield guys going south, and a short pool that terminated in Palmdale if I remember right.

@T128Productions7 ай бұрын
@@kevinsweeney2810 Where else? CALIFORNIA! Anyways, what I meant by “state the obvious” is that some low-IQ-numbskulls post the comments saying things other people already know. In this case when FaBiO said “Sp 4449 going to Cajon pass” even though the 4449 went THROUGH Cajon Pass, not to Cajon Pass. Even though the video shows the 4449 in other locations besides Cajon Pass, this “user” has got to have something serious going on his end. Some kind of disability causing him to spam this nonsense. And don’t get me started with his “Pingu Sherman Peabody” BS.

great vid. you don't get many views, I guess y.t. doesn't promote your channel like some others. you have any other unpublished work? specifically of the Visalia district, and the Exeter branch, of the 50s,60s,&70s. a collection of stills or 8mm would be wonder ful. 👍

What a lousy oil can. But it had to be done, since the Daylight was runnning low on water, a diesel engine had to assist on taking the train through Tehachapi Loop.

As a trucker, I've been up and down that pass many times, but it's nice to see it from a different perspective. And if you change the playback speed up to 2, it makes you feel like you're almost out of control!😳

Interesting crew conversation starting at 24:02 to 24:14... If Phil Anschutz (who owned the Rio Grande, which bought control of the SP in 1988) had his way, 4449 would become a PR tool akin to the UP steamers... If only they had the chance to do those big trips they talked about...
