What sort of thread is being used here please. Im wanting to embroider on my babies onesies what would you recommend? Im a beginner and literally atarting from scratch i usually sew..can you buy large rolls or do they always come in the little "single use" packs. Thanks alot. Great video!!
@Paraffle4 ай бұрын
Thanks so much! I almost always use DMC stranded cotton - other brands like Anchor stranded cotton are also good, and they would work for a baby's onesie too. Stranded cotton comes in skeins of 8 metres, which is usually plenty for a project like a onesie! The thread contains 6 smaller strands, so rather than using all 6 you can split it down and use 2 or 3 strands at a time to make it easier to work with 😊

Hello, Can you please tell an alternate option? I am unable to find the white carbon paper in my country. :(
@Paraffle7 ай бұрын
Hi! You can also use Sulky Solvy paper (if you can get it) - you can print/draw on it, stick it onto fabric, then wash it off once you're finished! 😊

Should I be using one strand(?) Of the 6 strand yarn or more strands? And can someone tell me what is the right world in this situation my embroidery hobby is so new that my embroidery language is laughable 😂 but I started with hedgehog and now I'm doing some other Forrest animal and to make them look good and as realistic as possible I have used 1strand or two, but this thing I can't really get to work with so thin yarn..
@Paraffle8 ай бұрын
Hey! Strand is the right word 😊 I normally use 2 for satin stitch, but it depends on the size of your project and how big the area is that you want to fill - sometimes it's just trial and error!

Thanks! What if I only want to use felt without the hoop? I want to sell the piece without frames so the clients can choose a frame to their taste. But, at the same time, I want it to be sturdy.
@Paraffle Жыл бұрын
Oh that sounds nice! I don't think this would be the best way to finish it if there's no hoop - you'd probably be better using some sort of fusible/iron on interfacing to make it sturdy! 😊

Hey, when you have to get a new strand of thread or a different colour, how do you start again so you can't see that you've started a new strand or colour ? I can see where I've started and it doesn't look very nice. Thankyou

Very helpful. Thank you. This is my first video so I might find this info soon, but I was wondering if there are guidelines re: the stitches running vertically, horizontally, or even diagonally…as long as they’re parallel, how do you decide? I have this scallop border that I just tried, and it’s a bit of a hot mess. I need to practice more to see what looks best and fastest. Maybe satin stitch isn’t the best option even though that’s what’s showing in the sample bc I downsized it quite a bit for my project.

All of my satin stitches still come out loose and overall terrible looking. Im not sure what im doing wrong... I've made sure the fabric is tight, I've kept tension even, not too much not too little, I've added a stabilizer, its still super loose and messy 😭 any advice??
@Paraffle Жыл бұрын
Oh no!! How many strands of thread are you using at a time? And also are you crossing over a lot on the back? Sometimes if the back has a similar amount of thread than the front then it can weigh down your fabric and warp it (unless you're using quite a thick fabric). I try to keep the amount of thread on the back really minimal so that the fabric doesn't stretch! 😊

@Paraffle Жыл бұрын
This is dressmakers carbon paper, so I've only tried it on fabric before! There's a chance it might work on paper, but I don't think it would with wood 😊

Hey is there a way of preventing the lazy daisy stitch from moving? My threads are just moving and it looks super untidy. Please help I am making a project for my best friend.
@Paraffle2 жыл бұрын
Hi! Hmm I'm not sure what you mean - which parts of it are moving? Are the petals pinned down with a little stitch at the end? 😊
