I always find these disturbing - Jack Benny was essentially a man with no talent, just a smartass, Mel Blanc was an extremely talented voice actor, Benny always had him in situations where he was ridiculed - I don't get it.

He drove in his black Cadillac from home to Palm Springs, ate dinner, talked business, then started the drive home. He hadn't made it very far before he was pulled over by a Highway Patrol officer. The CHiP and Benny were equally surprised because the black Cadillac he was driving had been reported stolen. (Jack Benny a car thief?) Benny and the cop returned to the restaurant and found another black Cadillac in the parking lot, next to where the car Benny was driving had been parked. THAT was Benny's Cadillac; he had gone to the wrong car and his key fit. So he got in, started the engine, hit the road and still didn't realize until the cop stopped him that he was driving the wrong car. Of course that was long before selfies, so I hope he gave the car's owner and the cop his autograph. The cop probably dined out on that story for years.
