Thanks hihi & the series i mention with Andy Galpin, idk for sure ofcourse but he works with athletes and just general population, he does research as well and teaches. I think he knows a lot more about how our muscles work than Andrew Huberman & that’s why he asked him to do a series on general fitness. I think it’s an amazing free masterclass on muscle & endurance physiology which made me absolutely nerd out 🤓 but if you have any better researcher suggestions let me know id love to know more

i definitely fell into the extreme exercise trap when i was young. nowadays i focus on achieving just above average cardio/strength/flexibility (under 1.5 hours a day of training alone with no equipment). i trained and broke a school record at the 800m race, but no one cares and it doesn't mean anything (also someone else who was less successful won the best athlete of the year prize money award lol!). it isn't healthy or fun to train past a certain point, and the main thing is to live life always healthy with lots of energy and not get injured. now my goal is just to maintain a 3 mile jog/run of 24 minutes until I am 70 years old, then my goal will be a bit slower.

@@perspectieff thank you. we only ever fully understand someone's pov if we were that exact person (which is impossible, unless we are analyzing how our own selves changed over time). i like to think back and ask myself how i would have done everything different if i had my current brain/experience (everything i know right now) but was back in high school and college etc.

question, when was the last time you got new running shoes? as a runner you should replace them around every 6 months, my sister will get injured and it will have been almost a year since she got new running shoes and with new shoes she is instantly better :) and rolling out and taking ibuprofen can also help, as well as calf raises and chin strengthening exercises too (from a fellow runner)

Nice vid!! It's normal to have a higher heart rate when you're on ADHD meds (it's a common side effect). When I combined it with the constant fatigue during my 75 hard, the side effect only worsened. Avoiding caffeine and more controlled and less explosive exercises might help :)

@perspectieff4 күн бұрын

firstly, thanks for this video. Im in my teenage years and all of the highschool, friendships etc stuff is draining me badly, Im also worried about the future and i feel a lot of pressure on me. I wanna study abroad and i found Gent, as i learned i need to learn dutch since theres no bachelors degree in english for psychology but i think thats ok i love the dutch language and i still have some time for learning a new language but i think my problem is i need to be more disciplined. Okay i can almost show my full potential when i want to but i need to take action too but i was too lazy for that. for my first exam season i got a lot of good grades and i thought ''oh i can do these'' and on the other one i didnt really studied at all cuz i was feeling a lot of pressure and i was so nervous about everything. all i did was scrolling on my phone when i came back from school and study for max 1 hour. it felt so bad getting these grades. i mean i think i passed all of them but i could do better and thats my fault. i have a few weeks break soon and in that time i will try to change myself in a good way. study more and take care of myself and my mental health.
@perspectieff3 күн бұрын
well first of all, you are very courageous to keep trying and really reflect on what went wrong. also thanks for sharing your story. I wish you the best of luck if you choose to study in ghent it truly is very cozy and I'm sure you'll get the hang of the language, people in psychology are also very kind and helping even if I say so myself xPPP Sounds scary and exciting at the same time, good luck with your exams if you still have some :)

i usually don't leave comments on people's videos but i feel like i need to right now. i honestly admire your way of viewing your everyday life, specially during 75 hard. even though it might be difficult, you make it look effortless and simple, and it's really motivating. as a psychologist myself, i appreciate your tips (always based in science of course!) and i tend to remember them when i'm doing something. keep going and all the best! take care of yourself <3

Hey thanks for your comment :) I love to capture simple things like a coffee break outside in my garden, and it's nice that you appreciate this as a viewer. It means a lot that people still find peace in these otherwise insignificant moments. It's really nice to hear my video has an impact in how you approach your day, thank you.

I liked the preview!! Maybe theres someone out there for whom the bravest thing to do in a similar situation to yours in relation to 75 hard would be quitting, even (and specially) being that close to completing it. Sounds anti-goggins, but it could be a matter of why they are doing the challenge in the first place and if they trust themselves enough to keep their minds strong after quitting (and of course the level of risk associated with continuing)
@perspectieff4 күн бұрын
Yes, well said, I think why I didn’t is because I could still walk even though I was limping and I could still cycle so in my head I thought “ I can still walk, swim and bike to continue this challenge. Lifting right now is hard I always feel a little pain afterwards, running is absolutely out of the picture.. sadly enough. But you don’t have to run or lift to complete this. But if the pain got worse I would’ve quit no doubt.

Hey!! After reading slow productivity I started using a similar set up as yours using google calendar (daily) + notion timelines (one for weeks, another for months in a year) and have found myself looking at them with enough frequency as to not forget them entirely like I always did (I recommend that you try timelines, but they can be a little weird). I liked your recommendations and will read the Austin's books since I've been pursuing creative stuff recently. Delighted to see you pop up in the feed as always jajaj
